Hello fellow Ninjas,
It’s been about ~5 months since I submitted my application for licensure w/ attest authority and after few updates here and there, I got another status update letter from CBA today.
“…you may need to appear before our QC with work papers before a license with attest authority can be issued… Alternately, you may choose to change your application to seek licensure without attest authority (general)…”
1) What do they mean by “may” need to appear?!?! – I already sent an email to CBA asking for clarification, but man, this process has been frustrating as is, did they really just use the word “may”?!
2) Did anyone else have to do this? I am currently working at a public accounting firm as an Audit Associate, but I wouldn’t need to sign off on anything for next 3-4 years at least. And, that’s IF I am still in public accounting by then. What diff would it make to get a “general” license w/o attest authority vs. one w/ attest authority? I can still call myself, “Jombe, CPA”, right?
Anybody that got licensed via California Board of Accountancy who had similar thing happen to them, or even people from other states who had similar experience – PLEASE CHIME IN! It’s ******* Friday night and I am here sitting in front of my computer all fidgety and I am about to lose my ****.
