So I got married in June and started the CPA process in August. Life has been really hectic since then between moving twice, tons of travel for my husband’s work, and starting a new job myself. Because of all that and a HUGE delay from the ever lovely SSA, I’ve had a tough time getting all of my ID and paperwork up to date with my married name. As far as prometric’s ID requirements, all I have is a driver’s license. I am waiting on the edge of my seat for my new credit card to come in the mail as a secondary ID.
My exam is scheduled for Friday, Dec 1, and I have to leave town on Thursday to get there. I am so worried that my credit card won’t arrive on time and not sure what I should do. I guess re-scheduling is an option but I really really don’t want to do that because of the timing at the end of the quarter and the fact that I’m already taking it about six weeks later than I originally planned.
Any advice on what I should do? Something I can arrange with Prometric (Idaho jurisdiction)? Or at least can someone help me calm down haha

I'd try calling the prometric center you are testing at. See if they will accept your maiden name if you bring in your marriage license as well. Good luck, I know they aren't very flexible on the ID requirements.

I know it depends on prometric sites (tested at 2 different sites), but I never once was asked for my secondary ID (credit card).

I’ve alao tested at 2 sites and I’ve never needed a second ID.

Never been asked for a second ID either. I definitely sympathize with the difficulties changing your name- but I really think you'll be fine with the driver license

I took Aud in November and wasn't asked for my ID either if that helps!

I went to my first exam last month with my driver's license, passport, passport card, signed credit card, signed debit card, and another gov't issued ID with picture.
They only wanted my license. I would call the prometric center to ask.
There is a good chance that the person you speak to will not be working at the time you go, so be sure to note the date and time of your call and to whom you talked to.
I would also bring every scrap of evidence you can find including your license, passport if available, marriage license, updated social security card if you have one, if you don't bring the old one.
Just bring anything that could help to prove to the staff that you are who you say you are.

Obviously you making a big deal about it will just draw attention to the matter and will decrease the likely hood that you will just fly under the radar, but I'd rather be safe than sorry.

Call you CC company and ask if you can have it over nighted.
Do you have a debit card? Or a local bank that has the ability to issue you a debit card on the spot?
I had one bank that could put my name on the card and give it to me on the spot, but that was back before the chip days.

OK so I called the prometric center and the lady told me that they only require 1 gov't issued ID for the CPA exam and no secondary form. I wrote down all the details of the call and will take that with me along with evidence of my name change, just in case.

Seems a little overkill that the NTS lists all those requirements? But I guess they have to cover their bases if some locations are more strict.
Thanks so much for your advice, guys! I'm so relieved.

Yea… I'm really not sure how well all these people broadcasting the lack of security/clearance at the prometric center will bode for prometric itself.
I will be sure to bring my license and signed CC for my next exam just in case.

I believe the new NYS driver's license may or may not have some type of embedded technology, so perhaps it satisfies the requirements.
I think they do a barcode scan on it, so maybe they only go to the backup docs if you don't look like your picture, or the bar code scan fails.

    Good luck on your exam.
