    @katiekanton

Can you give us a hint who your very famous client was? Tell me it wasn't Bel Biv Devoe…it was Bel Biv Devoe wasn't it?

@ROACH – GO! GO NOW! 30 is NOTHING. You're still a baby. If you want geology, go do it. But you're not a failure.

@NECain – You're hysterical! I literally laughed out loud. Not BBD. Can't reveal who it was. Signed a non-disclosure with a $1M penalty. I will tell you that they were on the Forbes entertainer's list, and they were highly successful, but highly irritating. I never listened to any of their music. I'd be willing to bet you probably didn't either. But our tour accountants got to travel to several different countries and made more than $150k for two month's work. No lie. It's absolutely ridiculous and I wish I could do it.

I just switched to accounting so I can't complain yet. But, if I could do anything, with money not an issue, I would just be a professional volunteer. Just apply myself wherever one needs help. And the second one would be an event planner because I love planning. Unfortunately, right now, all I am planning is the CPA sections 🙁

@ROACH – Who says I'm not following my dreams? I've been researching online classes for getting a teaching credential for the last two weeks… ; ) And as for being a stay at home mom… I am hopeful. I'm not a mom yet so I have time for that one.

Oh oh another dream job – professional roller derby skater. Roller derby isn't a professional sport yet so… doubt this one will happen since I'm already 26 and I plan on having kids within the next few years (can't play roller derby while prego), and it'll probably be a few years before roller derby actually becomes a professional sport. But I still think it would be cool. : ) For now I just play roller derby for the love of roller derby!

@katiekanton – That's my new dream job…Tour Accountant. I could handle traveling the world for a couple of months for $150k.

Also, because of the clues you left in your previous post (successful but annoying), I can only assume that it's either Aaron Neville or The Carpenters. I'm not gonna force the issue though. Neither of us have $1 mil to pay non-disclosure penalties.

@NECain If you're a guy you definitely have an advantage. One of their jobs is to carry a couple thousand cash on them at all times. It'd help if you could defend yourself.

Seriously? Aaron Neville and The Carpenters? Ok, first, The Carpenters aren't jack without Karen (she's dead, you know), and I'm terribly offended that you would lump them in with Aaron Neville and other irritating musicians. She had one of the most amazing female voices ever. EVER. Second, how old are you? The fact that you're even aware of The Carpenters means you almost certainly haven't listened to the group I'm talking about. I'm aware of The Carpenters because I come from a family of singers who carry the torch for music of days gone by. I was raised on The Four Freshmen, Matt Munro, Rosemary Clooney, etc. My sister's idea of updating the family's musical tastes (around 1990, mind you) was including The Carpenters and James Taylor in the rotation.

So if you have a non disclosure agreement and cant tell people who your past employers are…how do you put them on a resume and use them as a reference? lol

@CalCPASoon I have absolutely no idea, and if you have any suggestions, I'd love to hear them. I've run it through my mind a dozen times wondering how I'll handle it. I want to get on at PWC, and my old boss has lots of contacts there because he started out there. I got the singer gig because he originally had it and then moved on to be the CFO at a startup company, and brought me in to replace him, so he obviously knows who the client was. I'm hoping he'll just mention it for me when he tells them about me. If I have to apply other places (which I figure I will have to do because I'm not a hot 24 year old just out of college), I don't know what I'll do.

lol, i was kinda joking, but ya, that is great experience that you should be able to use on a resume.

What was the name of the employer on your paycheck or W-2? Maybe if you were actually an employee of the management company then you can use them as the employer name/reference instead of the actual band name?

Oooo! That's a really good idea. I may be able to work something like that out with them.

By the way, lest anyone think this was a glamorous position, I never got to go to awards ceremonies/red carpet events, etc. It was just office work. Lots and lots of expenses and Amex reconciliations, tax returns for 50 states, registering in 50 states for businesses they decided to start on a whim, closing the registrations in 50 states when they realize they have to pay more taxes if you run the income through a Corp first (even though we told them), and then the stupid crap rich people get other people to do for them like arrange for someone to go by their beach house that they're at once a year and test that the internet is hooked up to their Wii. It was really, really interesting accounting work though and much different than my previous corporate accounting stuff.

It was a little sad too. Some people with money don't have any idea how much of it they're using. What they spent on clothes in one month would pay my expenses for an entire year, and you kind of know that in less than 10 years, their music will be on the oldies station and they'll be scrounging for jobs on reality shows just to pay the taxes on the only house they haven't sold already.

I have my dream job. I work for a small public accounting firm that mainly works with small businesses (Mom and Pop shops). Seeing a small business start from nothing and grow into something is really something. The only two things missing from my dream is my CPA license and owning my own firm, which may come true someday, hopefully soon 🙂

Started sitting in May 2002, on and off. But since 2008 I've been nonstop and my scores are....
    AUD - 39, 48, 56, 65, 68, 73, 76!!! (Finally passed in Oct 2011!!!) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    REG - 75 (Lost Credit) 72, 68, 73, 75 (Passed again in Aug 2011) Becker, NINJA, & Wiley
    FAR - 65, 68, 75 (Lost Credit) 68, 73, 73, 80 (Passed again in May 2012) Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
    BEC - 65, 68, 71, 72, 72, 71, 76 (Lost Credit)- 70, 76!!!! I AM DONE!!! - Roger, NINJA, & Wiley
After 10 long years of studying, I AM DONE!!!! Finally a Licensed CPA in the State of New York!!
