Do you think you would give up after failing 7 times especially after getting in the 70s each time? See how I overcame failing 7 times to become a successful senior associate at a big four firm!

    BEC - 71 Fail 77 Woohoo!
    AUD - 70 Fail 72 Doh! 72 DOH! 79 Thank God!
    REG - 72 Fail 70 FAIL 83 FINALLY!

Trisha, if you read my post carefully, I agree with you… What I'm saying is that if you're trying TO MAKE MONEY off of giving advice, you should probably have scores higher than 77s, especially after you've already failed the exam 7 times. I have nothing against lower passing scores. They are passing scores after all. It's just the concept of trying to make money off of it with those scores that I question.

I read your post thoroughly… But wouldn't your statement also apply to Jeff? He has helped many, and his difficulties in passing may be what makes his site and materials so helpful… Just my humble opinion 🙂

If I read correctly somewhere, I think Jeff scored in the 90s on one of his exams, and in the 80s or near 80s on his others. I would say that shows he learned from his mistakes, and just didn't get “lucky” in passing most of them.

7 times? I'm laughing so hard right now I can't breathe. Hell I had 7 before I passed 1! Is this for real? I think I'll stick with another71. The laughter is so loud now I think I woke up the neighbors!

Regardless though, just because I'm not willing to pay for his advice, doesn't mean that you or anyone else shouldn't pay for it… Just my analysis of the situation

I think the major point to come away with from this, which some may not realize now that the links are deleted. is that he posted links to his website on this one to drive traffic there. While it may be ok to do that on some forums, it's not ok to do that on a site that is your direct competition. Who cares if he wants to create a site and make money off of it. He will have a tough road competing against a site like Another 71.

The thing I want to know is what qualifies you as a CPA Review expert which you show as your occupation in your profile? Is it because you have taken the test seven times? How many reviews did you use while taking those exams? Have you spent an extensive time reviewing all the review courses out there? I guess I could call myself a cpa review expert since I have used three different review courses plus the ninja supplements in the ten times I have taken the exams, lol!

I agree that it is in very bad taste to use a competitor to drive your own site. I have just seen so much discussion lately about scores, how fast some people pass, and criticism of how much time it takes others, ect… Instead of just knocking this guy for a tasteless plug, people question his ability because of his scores. Your questions about research and what makes him an expert are way more legit… So much arrogance and condescending behavior on a site that is here to be a helpful community. That statement is directed at no one in particular, just an observation from various threads I have read. My apologies for an off topic rant 😉

I agree with Trisha, I hate the fact that he came here plugging his site and not the fact that he has a site that he is trying to make money with. He could potentially go on to help thousands of candidates eventually pass. He should've just found a better way to advertise. But hey, business is business and to each his own I guess…

    FAR - 81
    REG - 75
    AUD - 85
    BEC - 79

Thank goodness it's over... Now on to the next step...

Trisha, I feel my concern is a very valid one when it comes to paying money for advice. I'm not quite sure why you think otherwise. The inevitable truth is that your scores do represent your ability to pass the test. It's just the definition of passing a test… I think you're taking the point of my post too personally. I don't think it has anything to do with being condescending. If you pass the test, you pass the test. It's a question of whether you have sufficient credibility to give out advice that costs money. Obviously, that comes down to the person buying it though. If you're willing to pay that money for his advice, all the best to you. He's obviously allowed to do whatever he wants. I definitely think he probably has advice that is helpful, but why go out of your way to pay for advice when they very well may have only passed the majority of their tests because they got lucky on which questions they received during the test?

You have a totally valid point. I just went off bit based on various things I have read on here lately… Too much time spent studying pensions and deferred taxes today ~ wound me up just a tad… :/

No need for him to keep getting hammered, so thread closed.
