This post may not be what you think it is by the title. It is a post that You can take this CPA initials and do you know what with them!!! I have about had it with this exam! My wife is expecting our first child (a baby girl) in March and all I want to do is spend time with my wife (while we have the time just the two of us), let my child (although she is in the womb) get to know who her daddy is instead of being cooped up in a room studying when I get home, and get everything ready for her arrival. I have passed two parts and failed the two I have left and I am just tired of failing them, not knowing what to study, seeing the same things I have studied before and just not caring! I am a man of faith and have prayed and asked others to keep me in their prayers and again I have failed these parts twice! Oh and I have paid so much for Becker review materials (updates, expired license, etc.), cpa exam fees, NINJA review items, and I am getting to the part of draining my savings!!!! I have seen 3 people in my firm study the same time as me, pass all parts the first time, and they are now CPAs. I want a relationship with my wife and daughter and I have been ruining it for the 2 years we have been married trying to study for these exams. I will confess that I have not put 100% into studying to where all I do is eat sleep breathe CPA material. I have studied when I get home from work for hours, feel like I have not learned anything, got bored doing multiple choice over and over, doing multiple choice and getting them wrong, writing materials where it just feels like I am writing and what is that doing, etc. That is just ridiculous and life is not about this! Life is about faith, family, then career! I am sorry I am ranting but I just had to get my feelings, emotions, and heartache out there.

How does your wife feel about the studying right now? Is she struggling with you putting your time and effort into studying, or is she ok? If she wants you to do this and try your best before baby comes, then yes, give it your all because it is worth it! There is a lot of great input in this thread for going that route.

However, this might not be the popular opinion here, but if this is really harming, or is going to harm, your relationship with her, an exam is not worth ruining your marriage with your 7-month pregnant wife. All women are different! I'd never call a first-time pregnant lady crazy for not wanting her husband to get knee-deep in CPA studying world 2 months before a baby; conversely, I'd never call her crazy for WANTING her husband to give it 100% before it's sleepless nights with a baby for months. I can see both sides and to me they're both valid. CPA exam is a test you can take and fail and take and fail and suffer no other tangible consequences than spent money and bruised confidence; you fail in a marriage and it's going to be a lot worse.

cliff notes: sit down with wife and go with the vibe she's throwing out!

    REG - 65, 70, 80!
    BEC - 35, 62, 79!
    AUD - 73, 75!
    FAR - 65, 73, 70, 75! DONE.

DUDE !!! It is time for tough love….

    “WHIP CRACK!!!” “WHHHAAAAA SNAPPP”

What do you mean you didn't do all of the MCQ????? This whole time I was thinking that you went through the process and had hit a brick wall. You half way went through the process. or 3/4 went through. It is hard for those of us who are giving the test everything we got to sympathize with you.

Get on a focused frenzy and do all of the Becker questions and get the Wiley test bank and try and do at least half of those. 20 at a time with instant feedback.

Did you read the Ninja Notes 5 times before rewriting????

Did you read and follow the NINJA plan at the beg of the NINJA Notes???

This test is no joke. That is why this web site is so popular. If you could put the ninja notes under your pillow and then pass the test there would be another 71,000,000 CPAs tomorrow.

    Quit passing the blame on:

I am a man of faith and have prayed and asked others to keep me in their prayers and again I have failed these parts twice

    and

but I have written all the NINJA notes more than once and that didn't seem to help or for me to remember what I needed for those questions and SIMS they asked on the exam.

    and

I have seen 3 people in my firm study the same time as me, pass all parts the first time, and they are now CPAs.

If you follow the NINJA method and still fail……..then you can have my sympathy again, until then I am taking it back. You can do this, but YOU have to do it.

Hi, Cajun, I was just about to say roughly the same thing as StudyLong but he beat me to it! 🙂

Omigosh, you HAVE to do ALL of the becker MCQ's at least once. I did all of them once, and went back and redid the ones that I got wrong at LEAST once again.

Then in the five days leading up to the exam, as a final review, I went back to the MCQ's that I got wrong and did them again. I also added the Becker final review materials. I also wrote several pages of crucial notes that wanted to memorize, and I reviewed those notes each day, including the morning of the exam.

Also, use the practice test as a guide in the days leading up to the exam, to see how prepared you actually are. It's all in the preparation.

Again, I would ask – how does you wife feel about all this? If she is willing and able to be supportive and let you go study all that you need to, then go for it. If she is not willing, then you two need to sit down and make a plan on how to go forward with the CPA.

You're already got the education, and now you've passed half, so you are more than half way there. Becker has a very high pass rate, IF you do the work and put in the time.

You can do this!!! (Again cue Rocky music.)

All the best to you and your family. 🙂

I did do all the multiple choice questions the 1st time through. That is not what I meant by not doing all of them I meant the second time and third time around because they are just the same questions. I have read the NINJA Notes over and over and then wrote them 2-3 times so I have put in the work I needed to do.

You're already halfway through the battle whats a few more months when you'll have the rest of your life for your family, bible study and church. People here have passed with more going on in their lives, so why cant you? You can do this just like those before you have and those after you will.

Hi, Cajun, I see, I did not understand.

On the sections that you did not pass, I would still start over with the MCQs. On the section that I failed, I redid all of the MCQs. It was amazing how much better I understood the material, and it shows in my score. If you do all of the MCQs again, and you are scoring in the 80's or above, you will pass. If you are not scoring in this range, you need to go back to the material. You have a Bachelors and a Masters degree, so you know that you have the learning ability!

Remember a 2 or 3 minute prayer/bible reading time before studying really helps the efficiency of studying and also the attitude. Even someone else praying for you is no substitute for personal time. That is where the real supply comes from to go on in the difficult times.

    All the best,

Between now and April 1 you have 9 weeks. That's 9 Wednesday nights and 10 Sundays that you could be studying for these exams to put them to rest once and for all. I get that you like to go to Church – but skipping Church isn't neglecting your faith. And if you want to pass this exam, then family time and volunteering can be put on hold for 9 weeks.

You're looking at 80 hours minimum on those Sundays and around 30 hours from Wednesdays. 110 hours in addition to what you're doing now will get you past these exams.

Look – we make choices in life. If you choose to spend those 110 hours on something other than the CPA exam, then you know whose shoulders that rests on. In a few years when you're bemoaning not being able to afford 50 bucks for something extra, then you better stop whining, because in January 2014, you made a choice that it just wasn't important to you.

But I'll tell you now – you're going to feel pretty bad over it when that 50 bucks is for your kid's Summer camp or dance lessons that you can't afford because you stalled out your career over 9 Wednesdays and 10 Sundays.
