I’m in the home stretch of my initial review of FAR.

Coming up on the schedule for this weekend? Government/NFP Accounting…

I remember, vaguely, a long time ago (four years ago)…I took a class on this. The ONLY thing I remember is LITERALLY begging for a passing grade after taking the final. I hate this subject with a FIERY burning passion. I wish to destroy it with the force of 10,000 suns, and one more sun for good measure. I would rather spring clean the hell out of my house than re-learn about funds, grants, and whatever the hell else is in this section. May the seven gods be with those who are subject to the torture that is Government/NFP accounting.

    /rant

Well in light of my sessions to come this weekend, I’m hoping to put in 16 hours this weekend JUST for this lovely section of accounting. Anyone else putting in serious hours this weekend?

My goals for this weekend: around 400 MCQs, a 2.5 HR lecture, and maybe a few sims. Going to purchase my first Ninja MCQ as well.

Let's get after it. Caffeine and Alpha GPC are great things.

It's official; I'm testing for REG on May 31st. So, the rubber has officially met the road. I'm in for another Power Q2. I'll finish up Partnerships and get started on Estates, Trusts and all that business. REG, like it's the most fulfilling and fascinating job I could dream of, all weekend long.

    I will pass REG.

    @mtaylo24
: 15 SIMs??? In 48 hours? Do what you gotta do to get that pass. May focus be with you!

    FAR: 80 (10/28/2016)
    AUD: 85 (2/6/2017)
REG: DSIT (Dragon Slayer in Training) (5/31/2017)
BEC: DSIW (Dragon Slayer in Waiting) (7/2017)

@floreat, Each Gleim chapter has 5, so that's three chapters of sims. Definitely more doable than 600 MCQs lol. I'm glad I was able to snatch up 5/23 a few weeks ago, because we still haven't had anything open up beyond that in my area. I've definitely made peace with the date. Good luck with REG, I do NOT miss that one at all 👎

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

Hi mtaylo24. 220 MCQs is impressive! Nice job. Do you feel like you are getting to a place of reasonable “comfort” with what you've covered so far? I did about half of that over the course of four days. But I did finish up Partnerships today! I can't hit Estates & Trusts too heavy tonight, but I am going to start on the reading. Good studies to you this week.

    FAR: 80 (10/28/2016)
    AUD: 85 (2/6/2017)
REG: DSIT (Dragon Slayer in Training) (5/31/2017)

@floreat Its been inconsistent, still not even close to where I want to be. I can do good on one session then bomb the next. I've been doing everything on random so I can get exposure to all of the topics but the TB keeps feeding me all of the ridiculously hard questions LOL. I did get bored with the MCQs, so I started working a few of the units with their suggested steps (audios, text, focus questions, JEs, etc). It kind of helps.

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

I started the Gleim multiple choice on March 31st.

Passed 1000 questions this weekend, 50 hours and I'm starting to see my scores going up to where I want them. I made a simple excel table, to track my questions and hours.

Overall my Gleim average is 51.4%, it's definitely up 5-10% from last week.
Still I've got a long way to go and that Gleim 75% is brutal, I think the only one I hit it with was Audit- though FAR and BEC were close.

    Good luck this week guys.

Are you using Gleim test prep section of the software? I'm looking through old post on the forums and it seems like averaging 70+ on it gives people good chance of passing.

I'm swimming at a 73 or so average for AUD with only new and unseen questions with about 1000 or so question to go. Really hope I can bring it to an 80 by the time I go through all the question, but that seems doubtful. It's really discouraging when you score a 80+ on one set of 25 question testlet and score a 60 on the next.

This weekend I started the two week review period. I was able to finish copying my Ninja notes for AUD again and begin tackling the MCQ. As it sometimes seems the days are running together, I'm not sure if I finished reading the book last week or this week, but it's done nonetheless. I'm trying something different this time with the MCQ–I'm writing down every question I get wrong and carefully reading each answer choice in an attempt understand why the answer is what it is. I'm also reading every answer choice for questions I get right to make sure I understand why it's better than the other choices. Currently, I'm working 75 questions throughout the day. I figure it's the quality of the study questions and not necessarily the quantity. This week in addition to the aforementioned, I'll be rewriting the different report types in hopes of being better able to differentiate between them. Happy studies this week everyone!

I'm tired of operating in fear and mediocrity. It's time to try. It's time to do. It's time to go.

@Anothony You got it, prep software all the way.

    Sounds like you humming along.

Only two things I'd mention that made me eat it in the beginning, make sure you don't have any weak sections. The CPA has a way of sticking in the knife and stabbing right where it hurts.

The other thing, make sure you know why you got to where you got. Even if you get to a point where you're seeing a few of the same questions, it'd ok as long as you understand why or how. (When I starting getting to auditing repeats, I would purposely put a wrong answer if I didn't know how to solve it.

That's about all I got, anyway what day is your exam?

On the May 15th. I plan on hitting the sims for Gleim starting this week until exam day and doing the MCQ. I'm most likely going to hit Ninja MCQ like a week and half before exam day with only new and unseen question just to make sure I'm not inflating my scores or anything.

@cpamatt and @anthony Do you all pick the “make sessions out of your missed questions” option after working a session? I started doing this yesterday and it helps, but I'm pretty sure that its inflating my overall score.

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)

I only touch missed question after I've seen every single last question and I have enough time to go over them. As long as you understand the concept behind the question then “score inflation” isn't necessarily bad. It's when you memorized the answer with no rational behind it is when it becomes dangerous.

@Anthony It's a good plan. Come August, I expect to see both of us posting on here that we passed.

    @mtaylo24
I feel the same exact way as Anthony.

Although I don't do missed questions, instead if I have a weak area I'll do a few sets from say chapter 7,8 at and 12.

Or If I'm really struggling with something I will look at video or notes or something and do a few sets from one chapter, before going back to sets of all the 20 chapters.

Got ya…I made it through the entire tb without repeats but now I'm starting to utilize the missed question option after each session. I'm 4,576 questions in at this point, so I figured now is the time to start. Ive noticed that Gleim immediately repeats the missed questions regardless via adaptive learning if you are working random sessions.

    AUD - 1st - 60 (12/12), 61 (2/13), 61 (8/13), 78! (11/15)
    REG - 55 (2/16) 69 (5/16) Retake(8/16)
    BEC - 71(5/16) Retake (9/16)
    FAR - (8/16)
