I have in the past used Becker to try and pass the exam with no luck, currently trying a Lambers in class course to pass it, however, found out my BEC score and it was lower than studying on my own with Becker. I am currently looking at going to a different study course and Yaeger looks to be one that may help, but I am looking for anyone that has used a previous review course and took Yaeger and passed it and how they feel Yaeger was better than the other course.

    Hey spstarla78,

I am using Yaegar for AUD and BEC. I took AUD twice using BISK, but I still couldn’t pass. I made a 68 then 66. I ordered Yaegar, and it has been helping me understand where I am at in the audit stage. Did you use it for AUD/BEC? I am happy to hear that you are done – that is exciting.

What were your methods for studying AUD? Did you go over the MC questions a lot? I think that has been helping me. Did you ever contact the instructors?

    rhiania,

Thanks – I'm very glad to be done and on to the next! 🙂

I used Bisk for AUD and did fine , but I think it was because I do audit work a lot in my job. Bisk seems to be good if you already have a more solid basis in the topics. I passed BEC by the skin of my teeth using Bisk, probably because of the Bob Monette Hot Spot video (which was excellent, by the way). I never contacted any instructors with Bisk, not even sure if you can.

To be honest I'm not sure which review program is best for AUD – I've heard negatives and positives for all of them. I would know the different kinds of reports, what tickmarks are & how to use them, the timeline of an audit, etc. Unfortunately a lot of it is memorization – I've heard Becker uses a lot of mnemonics, so that might help. But yeah, do all the MCQs you can. Sounds like you're doing the right things!

I am on Module 3 of Yaegar home study. It has really been helping me understand where and what I should be doing in each step of the audit. For your exam, did you review the MC? And review the book? I had used Bisk the first two times, but I don’t think I knew what was happening in each step. What part of the Wiley book do you think prepared you the most?

I just wanted to get some guidance from a person who pushes Yeaegar – this forum has really helped me. I will be using Yaegar for BEC, too in November.

I have all the intensive videos, but maybe I just need a little reinforcement.

    Thank you for the response.

That is what I loved about Yaeger – you learn the concepts with Cindy/Phil and then they go over MCQs with you. I am a "do" learner, I can read the book all day long or listen to the lecturer but I may not necessarily learn the concept. Having some MCQs gone through and explained to me makes all the difference in the world. Then when you've gone through that process you can focus on knocking out the MCQ homework.

I am currently using the CRAM as a supplement to Becker and I only 45 min left to get through it and I take the exam (FAR)on Monday. I have been studying for 7 weeks and I am so sick of it! The CRAM has been really helpful. I have been getting high 80's and 90's on all the Wiley questions the CRAM has you do, and in the mid 70's for only 2 of the modules. Does this usually translate into how one would do on the exam? I feel like I have so much information in my that it may explode.

80's and 90's is really good!….you're ready in those areas.

Just focus on those 70's and you're good to go.

Glad to hear you like the cram.

Thanks Jeff! I am just one of those people who will never feel ready. The 70's were in Consolidations and Stockholder's Equity; they were the last 2 I did after a 30hr study binge over 3 days, so I know that I have to look back through them.

Consolidations and SE – my 2 least favorite FAR topics…well…besides NFP and Gov't, I guess. I REALLY hated those 🙂

I am just coming off two pretty big NFP audits so I am ok in that area and gov't is mostly just memorization and I am pretty good with that, but those are the two most boring sections by a mile. What I found confusing about consolidations is that in the CRAM they go over the pre-July way first, and then just tell you what has changed. My fear is that I am going to remember stuff they say about the old standard and get tripped up.

Don't know if you actually talk to Phil Yaeger often or not, but it would be awesome if they would write the number of the module they are going over on the board so that the audience can see, because I would skip around a bit and I spent so much time trying to get to a particular module, by stopping and starting, and I kept wishing there was some sort of sign telling what they were going over as I was fast forwarding.

Just found this site and love it. I was considering Becker, but it seems like Yaeger will help more with concepts. Thanks for sharing.
