I’ve been dealing with this exam for way too long. I’ve yet to pass a single part. I think I have taken REG 6 or 7 times. My scores have recently been in the 71-74 range, but I still can’t seem to get that 75 I need for a single part.

All my previous attempts have been with Becker w/ the occasional use of the Gleim Software questions. I know Becker has worked for several other candidates, but I am at the conclusion that it is never going to work for me. I am ready to try something different. I ordered the Yaeger review for BEC and should be receiving it tomorrow.

I am looking to hear other forum member’s experience with the review program.

I used Yaeger CPA Review for FAR and passed with an 89! I thought that I was well prepared for the exam but I did have some issues with the differences between Phil's teaching style and Cindy's teaching style. Overall it's a good review program because it forces you to do more than just read the material since they go over questions in the lectures. They also have tips and test-taking advice that really helped me to keep my sanity during the exam. The Wiley software is horrible IMO so I did supplement with Gleim MCQs which I feel also helped (these are DEFINITELY worth getting for $50).

Yaeger also gives you a printout of minimum MCQs to complete in order to pass the exam and I felt that these really helped me to focus during my final week of review. Anything done on the Gleim CDs was just extra re-inforcement as well as exposure to some off-hand topics not covered in the minimum MCQs. An additional bonus to this review program is that you can call or e-mail the instructors with questions and they will respond to you personally. I have not used this feature yet but that can make the difference if you are running into questions where even after seeing the answer explanation you still don't get it.

I should also say that Cindy is awesome! It's definitely a matter of personal taste and teaching style but she explains things so well. I have a B.S. in Accounting and I felt that there were topics she clarified that I never really understood.

    FAR- 89
    AUD- Oct. 2nd

I am using Yaeger as well and think the materials are great, AUD is the only part where you may want to suplement.

    FAR - 95
    AUD - 82
    REG - 94
    BEC - 84

Yaeger has been working well for me! yea I failed BEC, but that was more my fault then theirs. Cindy is a great instructor! Yaeger is more of a teaching course rather than a review course, but it definitely fits both. I do get bored sometimes when they go over the same things, but repetition is good at the same time… for AUD you will def. have to read the wiley book quite a bit. Gary is a great instructor, but I do not think I could have gotten a 75 without reading over multiple sections the weekend before the exam. For BEC no reading is really necessary, use there notes and do the MCQ's and you'll be fine. As for FAR only time will tell…

    BEC: 73,81(7/6/2010); AUD: 75(5/24/2010); FAR: 76(8/31/2010); REG: 77 (10/18/2010) - DONE!!!!

I would say Yaegar is a teaching course and they have been quite helpful in explaining the concepts, to someone like me who would has been out of college for 15 years now. Dr Phil who teaches all of REG is a teacher in the true sense and so is Cindy who teaches FAR and BEC. They have helped me clear REG and FAR. Currently, using 2009 Yaegar BEC,will take it in OCT '10. For AUD Gary is a good teacher as well, has a different teaching style. For AUD supplemented Yaegar with Gleim cd but unable to clear that as of yet, then again that would be because I did not practice it enough, thinking it would be easy. Goodluck!

I studied for FAR two times using Becker's I didn't pass I was in the border line between 70 and 69 I used the CRAM I passed with 75; I studied two times for REG using Becker's I was in the range between 62 and 69 I used the HOME STUDY and the CRAM I passed with 79; for Audit I used Becker's I passed with 77 the first time not even using the lectures just reading the book and doing tons of questions. I also can tell you I did the test for Becker's and the mcq's

For BEC I start with Becker's, I was having difficulties with the variances and I found that IT part wasn't that good and decided to get the HOME Study; I am waiting for my score wave two. Cindy is very good explaining everything it click immediately

I think you should give a try

    Good luck

I made the switch back in February after trying to do self-study just by reading the textbook.

I simply watch all the DVD's while making mad notes. Then do all minimum MCQ at the end of all of the DVD's. Then read over my notes 3-4 times. Then if I have time I do some MCQ from the Wiley CD.

This has been my approach on all 4 of my attempts (after the 2 in Feb using Gleim). So far, I have passed them all on the first try using Yaeger.

I think with a teaching study program, the information sticks in your head better, well at least with me.

My scores are not as good as some of the others, but a pass is a pass.

CPA-Valenz congs on passing FAR, just took the exam on 8/31 and am sure I will be retaking it again. Wasn't a very good experience at all. I did alot of guessing because a lot of question where conceptual with very few calculations and when I say few calculations it was like 10 from all the three testlets I counted.

Congrats on passing — there are no grades attached to the designation of CPA

    A pass feels perfect!!!!!!

I'm not sure about BEC. Probably the end of November. I was going to get the FAR review and see how long I will need for that. Ideally, I'd like to retake FAR in October, but October is a huge month in our office so I'll see.
