I bought a Yaeger CPA homestudy USB in 2011 when I had a windows computer and everything worked great. I have however switched to a Mac computer and have been unable to watch the lectures. Has anyone else ran into this trouble? Does anyone know if Yaeger has different software for Windows and Mac?

    Thanks for any help.

I don't know if the USB video files are any different from the DVDs, but I had no problems with videos on my Mac using VLC

I use the USB on the MAC with VLC and have no issue. They said either VLC or internet explorer.

When I was using Windows the default application that opened them and played them was Google Chrome and when I selected it using the Mac the default application was also Google Chrome but the video did not play. When I get home I will give it a try using a video application like VLC and see if I can get the file playing. Thanks for the help

How are you guys able to select a video to play in VLC?

When I select the USB here is is a screenshot of what pops up. It appears to be a .htm file

It then takes me to the main page I was familiar to seeing on Windows

    https://img703.imageshack.us/img703/796/screenshot20120308at552.png

Then finally when I select either Auditing, BEC, FAR or Regulation I get this screen

    Thanks for any advice/help

Do you have the most up-to-date version of Adobe Flash? That's what plays the video plays in. Maybe try changing your securities.

I don't have a Mac, but sometimes when I try to watch the videos in IE I have to “allow blocked content” to enable the videos to play.

If I try to download adobe flash I get this message from their website “Your Google Chrome browser already includes Adobe® Flash® Player built-in. Google Chrome will automatically update when new versions of Flash Player are available.” I assume that means I am up to date?

I thought the only difference between the 2 was the Windows version got the Wiley test bank CD and the Mac version got the online test bank (b/c the Wiley CD doesn't work on a Mac). But I also have the DVD's and not the USB. I would give Yaeger a call. I'm sure you're not the only person this has happened to especially with as many people who are making the switch from Windows to Macs now. If it is different, I bet you could just mail them back your USB and they could reload it with files that will work. Good luck.

@apbandj. Thanks for the advice. I have had some emails back and forth with their IT person and gotten nowhere. I am curious do you have 2012 or 2011 version? I don't recall seeing a Mac vs. Windows when I signed up for the 2011 version but now looking at their site it says choose Mac or Windows. Could you post a screen shot of what shows up when you select CD Drive from windows? I feel like people are seeing a long list of videos but all I see is a single file using either Mac or Windows.

I saw the images you posted earlier, but mine doesn't look like that. When I click on “Yaeger 2012” under Devices, this is what pops up for me to choose…

    VIDEO_TS.BUP

    VIDEO_TS.IFO

    VIDEO_TS.VOB

    VTS_01_0.BUP

    VTS_01_0.IFO

    VTS_01_0.VOB

    VTS_01_1.VOB

    VTS_01_2.VOB

    VTS_02_0.BUP

    VTS_02_0.IFO

    VTS_02_0.VOB

    VTS_02_1.VOB

    VTS_02_2.VOB

    VTS_03_0.BUP

    VTS_03_0.IFO

    VTS_03_0.VOB

    VTS_03_1.VOB

I never really tried to figure out how to get it to run like that, so I just eject the CD and when I put it back in, it automatically runs.

Did you try copying and pasting that “file.localhost” or something like that into Safari? I don't have good luck using Chrome on my Mac. I doubt that's the problem, but it wouldn't hurt to try.

I did the Yaeger Now and Then program, so I have 2011 FAR and 2012 version for the other sections. My husband is really good with computer problems (he's a software engineer), so I will ask him when he gets home from work if you haven't gotten it resolved by then.

Another thought is to call an Apple Store. I think you have to pay if you call Apple directly, but the stores can sometimes help over the phone without charging you.

@apbandji. The different files you show is what I was expecting to see when I clicked on the USB but as you can see on my screenshot I only have 1 file which isn't even in a video format. I wonder if it is a different format for the USB or if its different for 2012? I remember reading something that the USB file was “protected” and don't try copying over files to hard drive, etc. so I am wondering if they have something to block me from viewing each video file which is what I believe I would need to use VLC to watch a video.

I did try using Safari and actually wasn't even able to get to my third screen shot, essentially clicking the links from my second screen shot did nothing and it stayed on the same page. I appreciate any future help you/husband are able to provide.

I was able to find a solution for anyone else having problems. I first needed to find the “web address” (it is actually the file location) from Windows in order to see how the videos were being accessed. I then replaced the default.htm part of my web address (there is other items before which needs to stay the same) with AUD/video/mod1pt1.htm which is where the first video was saved according to Windows. Now I am able to play the video using Google Chrome on the Mac. Hopefully this will help out anyone in the future and let me know if anyone else runs into this problem.
