Working and studying for the CPA exam.. this is probably not unheard of, but for all you full timers out there, HOW in the heck do you do it? I come home from work at 6:30 ish and I am POOPED. I eat dinner, shower, relax a little and don’t start studying until 9. I go to bed at 1.. I feel like everything I learned from the very beginning is slipping away and I’m constantly having to relearn everything all over again. My biggest problem is that I seem to forget everything I learn and even if i do study all day during the weekends.. it doesn’t seem to be enough. Bleh 🙁

It's tough but doable, I arrive at work at 7 and study until 8, eat lunch really quick and study for 40 minutes. Then I stay until 6 or 7 and work, 8 hours every Saturday and Sunday. I work at a CPA firm with only 9 employees so very quiet and supportive. I actually enjoy it, I miss rush hour every night. With Tax season approaching I have to put my studying on hold until 4/15.

I agree with those saying to get up early and study; as well as the eating healthy. This is coming from someone who, up until about 3 months ago, hated to get up early. I started getting up around 5am after reading a lot of posts here. I'm used to it now; I feel guilty now for sleeping past 6am.

It's really sad that I didn't do this from the beginning because I've noticed a real difference in the quality of studying I do when I get up early. I seem to concentrate and remember more.

When I studied at night, I didn't realize how tired I was from my work day and would zone out during my nightly studying; staying up until midnight or 1 and did not mean I was efficiently studying; it just meant I was wasting my time and sacrificing sleep.

BTW, I work about 10.5-11 hours a day and have a 2 hour a day commute (so thankful for Ninja Audio!).

I don't get home until about 8pm and I'm usually asleep by 9pm.

That's easier for me since I don't have a family; I commend anyone doing this exam with a full time job and a family.

    A - 32, 61, 70, 83!
    R - 33, 58, 73, 69, 81!
    F - 47, 78! 🙂
After 3 long years, I'm finally DONE!
I could not have done it without NINJA MCQs.

Ya'lls are the best!! Thanks for all the great advice, I really appreciate it.

@rachenyc you are a beast!!- training for a marathon and studying and then passing with flying colors? wow, i'd never be able to pull that off.. I don't exercise, I wish I had the time and energy to get in a nice quick jog before diving into my studies but knowing me, i'd probably come home and pass out before hitting the books so haha

Reading everyone's replies, I think i'll start waking up at 6 from now on and study till 8, then go to work, come back from work at 6, eat dinner, go to to the library at 7, study till 11:30, come home, shower, sleep.. and repeat. Then ill probably just study all day during the weekends.. actually I'm not too thrilled about having to wake up early, i love sleeping in any chance i get haha
