I have been at this for a while, with my last attempts in 2011. I have prepared fairly well and sit for REG on Saturday but need to decide which section to take next. What experiences can you share with me about the order in which you are taking your exams? Thanks in advance!

    A
    B 4/9/11 62
    F 8/14/10 55 08/06/11 43
    R 10/14/10 35 05/14/11 58 5/4/13 ???

FAR only because it has sooo much information. Studying for REG was not too bad, BEC was the most hated, AUD was a lot of memorization.

If I was going to do it all over again: FAR/BEC/REG/AUD. But then again I didn't know what I know now and you have the advantage of taking the test before.

    R - 74;88
    A - 84
    B - 74;89
    F - no study = 67; May 15 = 87 & done

I took FAR then REG and then decided I was in need of a calculation break and so now I'm taking AUD. I was glad to get FAR done – I definitely would not want to tackle FAR last. By then I'll be so burnt out and at this point I think that's the worst one to study for.

My order is FAR, AUD, REG, and BEC. So far, I am so happy that I took and passed FAR first. It is the one with the most information and is thought to be the most difficult one out of the 4 but that varies for everyone. I would definitely recommend getting FAR out of the way. My experience was that there were a lot of FAR concepts in AUD and I was definitely grateful that I took and passed it first. I am now studying for REG and am seeing some FAR concepts again.

And I agree with CPA_Driven ^, FAR would probably be the worst to take last since it is the biggest and you might be burnt out by the time you start studying for it.

So overall, I would recommend getting FAR done ASAP. Then AUD and BEC are a toss up for most people. It depends on your strengths and background.

Good luck with REG and the rest of your sections!

    FAR: 65, 77!
    AUD: 72, 72, 80!
    REG: 64, 84!
    BEC: 83!
    Ethics: 98!

If I had to do it all over again, I would definitely not have saved FAR for last. Get that beast out of the way and then move on to BEC and AUD.

Thank you all for your advice – I was considering AUD next, but after seeing your thoughts, I am going to go with FAR. Thank you for taking the time to read and respond – my next question is – how long to allocate to prepare for FAR. I took FAR in 2011 and got a 43 – lack of focus and I was still struggling with the Becker review. I love the ninja notes and audio and have been using the Wiley test bank – can I pass with just these or do I need more of a course? How long did you allocate to prepare – I work full time, but can study 20 plus hours a week.

    Thanks!

I took about 16 weeks. And totaled about 280 hours. At the end, I was kicking myself for taking that long because I forgot a lot of the concepts that I learned at the beginning of the 16 weeks which I have to go back and review before I took my test. I would recommend around 180-220 hours of study time for FAR. It's a beast and has A LOT of material to learn. So if you can dedicate 20 hours a week, aim for about 10 weeks.

As for the review, I'm not sure if Ninja notes, audio, and Wiley test bank would be enough for FAR. I use Yaeger and I felt like I was adequately prepared for the exam. I would definitely recommend that course to anyone. It's a lot cheaper than Becker and I learn very well from the instructors. I'm sure FAR could be done with just the Ninja notes, audio, and Wiley test bank but that probably wouldn't be enough for a lot of people. But if you feel like it could work for you, go for it. Everybody learns differently. Find your learning style and stick to it. Once you've done that, studying is so much easier and less stressful :).
