Which section to take first?

I’m working as a tax preparer nearly full-time and taking Becker at my local University. I will graduate with my MTX on May 12th… YAY! But as we all know, that is just the beginning. As my siggie states, I want to pass all 4 sections by the end of this year. What section would (or did) you take first, and why? If you’ve passed all 4 parts, what order would you take them in now if you had it to do over again?

Also… I notice that some people have scores for Ethics. Has that been absorbed into one of the 4 sections with the new exam, or is it something separate I need to worry about?

All constructive input greatly appreciated. Thanks!

FAR is usually the toughest exam and there is some content on FAR that carries over to the other exams. I did FAR, AUD, REG, BEC. That order worked well for me. I saved BEC for last because I thought it would be my easiest (it was).

The ethics exam is a state by state issue. Some states don't have a requirement, others require the AICPA exam, other states have their own.

I also did FAR first. It is said to be the toughest (although I personally found AUD to be the toughest) and the 18 month clock to pass all 4 starts ticking once you pass your first exam. That way you're not running down the clock if you have to retake FAR more than once.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Sounds like good advice, thanks! The order we're going in for my Becker class is REG (just finished), AUD (just started), FAR, then BEC.

Initial impressions about REG – a lot of it was review from my tax classes and a lot of it has been reinforced just by doing tax returns for the last couple of months. I'm fairly confident I can pass it with the time I'll have to study each section.

Audit is also mostly review (so far) but my last Audit class in school was back in '08 or '09 so I've forgotten a lot more than what I remember. That'll be tougher.

FAR just looks scary – twice as many flash cards as the other 3 sections combined! Yikes!

BEC I don't know what to expect but at least it will be covered in the class before I start my serious study program.

With at least one month to devote to studying each section, I *should* be okay. I'm so thankful to my friend that recommended this site to me! She finished the exam about a year ago.

I did AUD, FAR, BEC, and REG, AUD and FAR in one testing window, BEC and REG in one testing window, however, I had to retake AUD, glad that I took that first because I failed, haha!! it gave me one more opportunity to take it again.
