Hey guys, I just passed FAR with an 82.. Up from my first attempt where I rang up a stellar 64.. I got laid off and had plenty of time to study, at least like 4 hours a day, but it did cost me a half decent girl friend.. But where would you guys say to go from here.. I am using Becker which I supplement with the Ninja notes when I cant seem to get something down.. I was an Econ major and have looked at a lot of BEC material and I am not too worried.. Should I go with Audit next or Regulation? I have all the time in the word to study now, but once I get a new job will loose that luxury.. Any info or stories would be appreciated..

Usually people go with Audit after Financial. There are some journal entries in auditing that require knowledge of financial accounting. On a side note, it is comforting to hear that BEC doesn't worry you because I too was an Econ major (emphasis in Accounting). I haven't checked my BEC material to see what the chapters are about yet.

Yeah I mean from I looked at it will still be a lot of work, but I think I have a good basis.. FAR was rough because I just took a bunch of Acct classes at a community college to hit the credit requirement and did not really retain a great deal of the material.. But thank for the heads up.. I would ask for advice on Audit, but I imagine it is to just grind the hell out of the MCQs and save time by eating McRibs instead of making dinner..

Yeah, a lot of Audit is just pure memorization. There are a few calculations but nothing too crazy. I just didnt put in the time and effort to actually understand the material. I'm pretty upset with myself as I could have been taking my last exam (BEC) in Jan, right before I would start work. Now I'll have to study during my lunch breaks at work to finish BEC

BTW, if you plan on getting a job soon, you might want to think about knocking out REG next. I would think that would be difficult to study for when working. Doable but not enjoyable lol

I think you should try and get AUD out of the way before July 1, 2012 because the test is going to be changing a little bit, they are adding a few sections to what is being tested. If you can get that out of the way before the change it might make it easier. Either that or i would take REG next just because you have all this time to study and especially if you dont have any tax background it might be nice to have the ability to go slower.

BTW dont sleep on BEC even though it is considered one of the “easier” exams and you have an econ major, the majority of the test is on Cost accounting/Budget variances/Financial ratios/Financial planning. An econ major should give you a solid base for the small portion of economics on the test.
