Of course the majority of your choice will be “at home”, but I would like to know where you guys go to study.

I am having trouble especially on the weekend, because the nearby libraries close at 5:00PM.

Dunkin’ Donuts that are open 24hrs are usually playing music(One Direction and Katie Perry) so loud that I can still hear it with my earplugs on. Employees are chatting, and too many kids hanging around. It will tame down once the school starts, with college kids studying there.

Starbucks is a good place, but then they close at 7:00 on Sat/Sun.

It’s hard to find a place to study during the summer because not a lot of people study at those places.

I know summer is almost over, I like to know where you guys go.

I have heard that hospital cafeteria(after hour) is a good place to study, but I haven’t tried yet.

Any creative/unusual places to study? Please share.

Studying should be routine … a habit. Too many distractions at home. I spent 100% of my time studying in the same place: The college library. Same floor, same seat. 2 years. All day Sundays (Usually closed at midnight) … Saturdays closed at 5, but I couldn't study on Saturdays (daddy duty). M&W studied from the second I got off work until about 9. That gave me about 20 total hours a week of available study time. That's all I could muster up with work, marriage and parenthood. The fact that I did same place, same floor, same seat, forced me into a routine that I couldn't break (call me OCD). But it worked.

I am horrible at studying at home. I either sit in my room at my office feeling very enclosed and alone… or I sit in the open areas and look around at all the housework that I should be doing (dishes, laundry, messes).

I am an avid coffeeshop study-er. I love the fact that there is nothing else for me to do there (aka dishes) and that there are people around also working (to motivate me) and not to mention I have pride so I want others to see me being productive which stops me from just staring into space while I am there 😉

It is a terrible habit and I spend around $40 a month on coffee at least. I am there at least 4 days a week. Some months it's closer to $60. It just helps to have a distinct place to study so that I can attempt to compartmentalize my study life/home life. The only thing I can get done at home is slowly answering MCQ while watching tv or a movie occasionally.

I think it's personal for most people. Some prefer home while others (me included) can't get things done at home and also try to create a bit of space between work/study and downtime at home.

I studied primarily at Starbucks, though it was admittedly tough to find it quiet (helps to have headphones and light music playing) and it would be very busy sometimes as well. Other times I might go into the office to get some studying done either in the evenings or on weekends.

Some libraries (though not open a lot on weekends) and restaurants/bookstores can be good as well.

I've tried Starbucks and library to mix it up. I usually switch up locations in my home due to convenience related to food, water, entertainment for breaks, human contact, etc.

I always felt like studying at home was a huge distraction.. my mind would also end up being on things I need to do, clean, organize, etc. So I started going to starbucks which helped but it was so loud the only way I could concentrate was by listening to music on headphones, which is okay sometimes but not aall the time. Plus it is so inconvenient if you get hungry or need to use the restroom.. you have to ask someone to watch your stuff. And I don't know how it is in other states but in NY most of the starbucks closed their outlets.

Anyway, lesson learned studying at home is best. What helped me the most is I designated a specific area for studying (the kitchen). I keep it clean and organized so there are no distractions in front of me and I gave myself a pep talk to ignore everything except CPA material lol.

Try to find an area in your house that has the least distractions, or a room with a door that locks. For me I realized this is so much easier than looking for study locations and dealing with the nuisances there.

Weekday mornings & lunch time: I study at work

    Weekends: Starbucks patio

I can NEVER study at home because I always find myself looking for something else to do, like cleaning or making a BLT.

Starbucks is great for me because I'm away from the house with not much to do other than study. Plus, they have great Iced Tea Lemonades (Black, Sweetened).

Home has been problematic, with wife and kid + newborn, but I do most of my studying at work. If I need to hyperfocus for several hours, then I will be at the library.

-45%-Bulk of hours at work (down time, lunch, after hours)

    40%-Almost same amount at home

    15%-Other, usually library.

Coffee shops were too distracting…I like coffee…I could see myself “studying” at a winery….

@beat I saw that you mentioned hospital environment. I work at a hospital. When I started studying for my final part (FAR) someone in my officed suggested the medical library here at work. I would come here on Saturdays and Sundays and stay for hours and hours. There was the occasional doctor coming in and out but for the most part it was just me. I had the comfort of not having to tote my laptop with me if I needed a bathroom break or to go get a cup of coffee. The cafeteria was near so I didn't have to worry about where I needed to go get lunch. The only draw back was that it was extremely cold. Could have had something to do with being next door to the morgue. If you know someone who works at a hospital near you maybe you could contact them and see if they could help you make arrangements to study there. If y

That was my weekend study place. I also studied four to five hours the other daysn(nightsand mornings) of the week. I took no days off.

The key to studying anywhere is total discipline.

    Hope this helps!
