Do you think it matters when in a testing window you sit for the exam? Is better after the cut-off for the first score release; just in case they curve…

    FAR - 79 (05/31/2013)
    REG - 81 (10/20/2013)
    AUD - 77 (02/28/2014)
    BEC - 80 (05/15/2014)

    DONE!!!!!

Seems like they always curve…and I don't think about it that way. My goal is to schedule my exam when I am ready and when it works better for me – Sat or Sun afternoon….but if you have a choice….my theory is, do it at the end of a testing window – chances are, a lot of people will take it unprepared and you'll get a better score….explains my 83 on REG which I took on 8/31 and I really didn't think I'd get such a high score! I was hoping for a 75 because of the SIMs……

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

    @ SlimFlacoCPA

The best time to take the exam is when YOU are prepared to take it – there is no magic date in each window. I have passed sections taken at the beginning, middle, and end of a window but I have also failed sections taken during those times as well.

I am retaking FAR on 10/29 and AUD on 11/26 because those dates work with my schedule but more importantly I will have enough time to study and be well prepared.

    Good luck 🙂

    3XBEC:75 * 4XREG:82 * 4XFAR:76 * 7XAUD:77

The exams are not curved. Read about it here:

Like the others are saying, take the exam when you're ready.

The exams are certainly not “curved” per se, but the formula for calculating one's grade is definitely skewed. For example, you really want to get hard questions, because those questions are said to be worth more than the easy questions. Notice how you'll get stronger, comparable, and weaker scores on your report. Well if you do better than the majority on every question you get, you will likely pass with ease. Think of it more that way.

I take mine as close to the “cutoff” of score release dates. Taking it on Oct 1 makes you wait a month for scores. Taking in on Oct 19 will only give you 2 weeks or so. You don't need 4 weeks of panic/stress. 2 is more than enough!

    Licensed Florida CPA:
    B: 71, 73, 79
    A: 83
    R: 78 (expired), 77
    F: 74, 74, 80

    It's finally freaking over.

I am shooting for Nov 8th for FAR. By my calculations, that is the last few days before the end of the 2nd release period. Please correct me if I am wrong as I do not want to wait four weeks for results.

    Reg - Passed 82 Nov 2012 - Becker
    Aud - Passed 86 May 2013 - Becker
    BEC - Passed 88 Aug 2013 - Becker
    FAR - Passed 88 Nov 2013 - Becker

I'm taking AUD Nov. 10 – also close to score release day!

Waiting 4.5 weeks for the BEC score was a torture!!!
