Hi,
I am currently in an MSA program taking my last class.
I am in my thirties and I have many years experience as a risk manager for investment banks. I decided to transition to the CPA as I have the professional skepticism already from my career as a risk manager. Unfortunately, the working environment was very difficult as with companies offshoring to India and no protections due to at will employment.
I should be getting my notice to schedule soon. How far in advance should I register for the exam? If I was going to start studying today, should I register for the exam date that is 4, 5 or 6 months in the future?
I am going to take FAR first as I am just finishing my last class in the MSA program and that will give me great confidence if I study hard and pass it the first time.
Any advice is appreciated. I am starting with a CPA firm next week and I am not married and have no children.
Thanks.
