I took FAR twice and I am very disappointed by the results. I did much worse on the second time . I did write down the notes and worked on numerous multiple choice questions . I don’t know how to study for these exams anymore. Any tips on how much time to spend on one section and how to prepare , and any test taking tips?

Getting really, really, really mad helped me. I was more focused and I was able to read the questions correctly. Don't let this exam get you down. Get back up and get pissed!!

    Key to Passing:

Understanding why you got a MC choice answer right (or wrong)

Writing and Rewriting your Becker & NINJA notes

Just doing numerous MC questions won't do it. It is a necessity that you complete all MC questions in your review at least twice, all SIMS twice, take notes, eat, sleep and drink those notes, listen to audio recordings anytime else.

I passed FAR on my third try and completed all the MC in all 10 chapters of Becker not one, two, or three but FOUR times. And when it came to the governmental and NFP who knows how many times I went over those. I would say close to 5000 MC questions for that time alone. It sounds like that might be a bit much, but that was what it took for me. I was in danger of losing my AUD credit had I not passed.

    Good luck!

    Key to passing:

You have to want it bad enough. You can tell yourself you want it bad enough, but until you put every second of free time in mastering the material to where YOU could teach it, its going to be tough on test day.

Every person has a different life and there is no cookie cutter standard.

I passed all four parts on the first try, but I am unemployed and studied on a full time basis. Another person may be employed and may be studying on a part time basis. Each person has a different story.

First you need to communicate with someone who has a similar situation as you. Are you studying full time or part time? Do you live with your parents, live on your own, own a home, married with kids?

Then, determine what motivates you to study. What has worked in the past with studying for exams such as those you took in college. When studying in that fashion, did you pass the exam? Did you get an A?

As you study and take practice quizzes, chart your progress. I used excel to chart mine, and watched my scores go from the 60's to the 90's. When you chart your progress, it will let you know if you are ready or not. But make sure you do all MCQ's and SIMS in your practice exams. Read study guides from cover to cover.

Be obsessed with it. Figure out your own learning style and immerse yourself in it 100%. Then practice, practice, practice. Then practice some more. It should take hours every day for several weeks.

    AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
    REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
    BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)

My plans on passing the CPA exam is to sacrifice a Marketing Major Virgin to the CPA gods for each section of the exams.
