I know its a matter of strengths and weaknesses but for those who have passed both, how do the difficulty of the questions compare to BEC? How difficult is AUD overall?

    BEC- 80
    REG- 68, 71, July
    AUD- 61 , 84
    FAR- -- 75 🙂

a year ago I would have said BEC. But considering I have taken AUD twice without pulling a 75 and only took BEC once, I have changed my mind.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

I think when you strip away MC and sims you have the writing portion for BEC which one could say is easy points. Based upon the writing, I would consider BEC as the better odds to pass…

    FAR - 66, 77
    AUD - 63, 76
    BEC - 70, 83
    REG - 72, 79

I have only passed BEC, but I would say the question is subjective. I liked studying for BEC, I really like the Econ portion, but Audit not so much! I also think the information is more concrete in BEC, Audit is not–at least that is the way it is for me. So, from that standpoint, I would say Audit is harder–need to pass it on November 23!

AUD, but you should be focused on REG right now.

I can't believe how diffiult and boring REG is

It's going to be one difficult test to pass 🙁

    BEC is harder.

Out of all 4 parts, AUD was the easiest to study for. It was a joke compared to the other 3 parts. And I was the worst Auditing student in college too. What made AUD so easy is that they're asking the same exact questions over and over again but in different words. They like to word the questions in a way that makes you think it's so complicated, but in reality, you answered that exact same question before. This is why the BEST way to study for AUD is to do lots and lots of practice MCQs. The more you do, the more you'll start to become immune to the AICPA's game and you'll start to see that you're answering the same exact questions again and again.

I think BEC was a harder test, but AUD was harder to study for because it was so dang boring!

    FAR: 71, 77
    BEC: 70, 82
    AUD: 62, 78
    REG: 71, 68, 85

    @cpaman,

I wish Audit was a joke for me! It is frustrating especially when I see that Audit's passing rate is usually the highest of all the exams… 🙁

@yankeeaccountant- I felt the same way as you. But trust me, keep doing lots of MCQs and one day, it will all just click. It's tedious to do a lot of questions, but it's the best way to study for AUD. I would say, do ALL the MCQs in the Wiley book and do at least 700 on the Gleim software. You'll get them wrong, but that's ok. Just be sure you learn from your mistakes by reading the solutions.

    @cpaman,

I am going to do all the Wiley questions==good idea. I tried to buy Gleim (I used the free trial for BEC) but since I have a Mac, I can't buy the testbank. I am not able to spend the money on the whole course, since I need to use my money to buy the Yaeger course and hang with Gary Bulmash for awhile. I am taking REG first. I failed that one last window as well. I sit on the 1st of November.

Thanks for the input! Best of luck this window.

I felt the BEC MCQ were harder than the AUD MCQ. However, AUD Sims were more difficult compared to BEC where you basically get 15 “free” points in written communications.

As for the preparation, AUD was less interesting in my opinion because of the lack of calculations. I find challenge in working out the problems.

    Good luck on REG!

    AUD: 07/11/11 - Passed
    BEC: 08/27/11 - Passed
    FAR: 01/17/12 - Passed
    REG: 04/30/12; Re-take 7/16/12 - Passed

    FINISHED!!!!!!!!

Bec for me. Audit was just memorizarion mostly and all the topics relates to each other. Bec was all mixed up and cost accounting and inventory was tricky

    NEW YORK- DONE

did you pass BEC? I need to know if I should try and fit in the GLIEM for my BEC test in 20 days.

    FAR 76
    REG 76(2x)
    BEC FAILED (2x)
    AUD FAILED (2x)
