WileyoleYaegerMemberI am in limbo right now. I finished taking the test 3 weeks before scores are to be released. I am not sure if I passed or failed (I felt great coming out of the test, whatever thatβs worth), but I am caught in the world of, should I study for my next test, or hold off until I know if I passed or failed. I just took FAR, and will be taking Audit next. Any advice on what to do as I was on a good study pattern and do not want to get too rusty.

KimboroniMemberMy plan is to keep fresh on FAR until I know whether not not I passed. I don't want to move on to the next one until I know.
Luckily for you, FAR is pretty helpful for some parts of AUD.
AUD 84 (1/9/14-Wiley books/TB + free materials)
FAR 83 (5/21/14-the above + NINJA 10 Pt Combo Lite)
REG 84 (7/9/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC/Notes)
BEC 76 (10/5/14-Wiley books/TB + NINJA Audio/FC)Disclaimer: My ninja avatar is not meant to imply that I have any affiliation with this site other than being a forum member. That's a pic of a T-shirt that my daughter gave me for my birthday. π

taxgeek83ParticipantRight after I took FAR in February, I started on BEC. I had only studied for about a week and a half for FAR, but I felt like it was a crapshoot when I came out of the exam. I figured that on the off chance I passed, I'd have a head start on BEC. Ended up missing it by 3 points (go figure!), so I put down BEC and picked FAR right back up.
My point is, you're not going to know how you did until scores come out, and in my opinion, it's better to just move on. You should only be waiting about two weeks – three at the most – for score release. You can always pick AUD back up later if for some reason you don't pass FAR. And if you're really worried about it, you can always start studying AUD and just review your FAR notes every couple of days in the meantime so you don't forget everything. π

AnonymousInactiveI don't like to move on until I know because I like to stick with one test until I know I passed so I don't use up any of my brain on other information if I have to retake one. You may want to look at the score release schedule when you schedule your exams in the future so you can get a seat as close to the release date as possible. Then you've only “wasted” 1 or 2 weeks waiting for a score instead of 3 or 4 weeks. I say wait unless you can fit a test in this month since you can't retake until July if you failed.

TuxMemberLooks like we're all giving you different advice….
After I took FAR, I waited to receive my score before moving on (it was only about 10 days waiting) – because just like CPAMommyof3 (above), I didn't want to move onto a different topic in case I had to retake FAR.
HOWEVER, I'm studying for AUD now and am stressed for time. I could have used those two weeks that I took off to start preliminary review of AUD (i.e. just getting familiar with the material, watching videos, taking a few notes, etc) This is what I plan to do on future sections.
If you just start with a new section while waiting for your score, you won't get so deep into the material that it will mess you up if you have to re-take your previous section.
BUT, it WILL help you with time whenever you actually get to move onto the next section.
I completely understand your concern, approach, and philosophy about wanting to wait. I was in the SAME mindset after FAR, but TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE. Seriously!!
So, find a way to be productive, even while you're waiting for scores.
That's just my 2 cents.
Good luck!!
FAR - 86 - 2/27/14
AUD - 75 - 5/29/14
BEC - 80 - 8/31/14
REG - 89 - 2/27/15

KimboroniMemberI think a lot of it depends on your overall strategy when scheduling prep and taking the tests, and if you have sections that are expiring soon, etc. There's also a big difference between taking 2-3 weeks off and taking 2-3 months off, and also not letting your 2-3 weeks off accidentally turn into 2-3 months. Plus you have to balance keeping the momentum going and taking a break if you need it. So there are a lot of factors, hence the different recommendations.

AnonymousInactiveI had the same issue. I took FAR on 4/4/14 and had a whole month to wait for scores. I decided to go ahead and start studying for AUD because regardless of the results of the test I could not take FAR again until July anyway. I passed FAR and I was so glad that I started on AUD. It would have been a big waste of time if I had not. I started out with my first failed FAR at the end of the testing period Q1 so that I would not have to wait long for my score but after I failed it that threw a money wrench in my plans for Q2. I would like to say that you should wait and pass one section at a time but if you are put in a situation like I was then you should consider moving to the next one for fear of loosing precious time.

JamesBJamesParticipantI'm in the exact same spot. Took FAR on May 1st and won't get results for another two and a half weeks.
I'm trying to study through AUD in the meantime. I think I'm going to avoid looking at FAR results until I take my test at the end of May.
FAR: May 1st, 2014 - 91
AUD: May 29th, 2014 - 97!
BEC: July 16th, 2014 - 91
