I had been studying for FAR before secondary tax season hit about 6 weeks ago. Due to a lot of overtime at work, I got way off-track on studying for FAR and now I am unsure what to do considering the upcoming 2017 changes to the Exam. Should I jump back into FAR or go ahead and wait on it and start fresh with BEC (since it looks to have more changes)? I had only gotten through F4 (Becker) before I got very off-track with FAR. I am also hoping to test at the end of November, so time is also a factor. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

If you think you can take FAR by the end of November as planned, I would do it. Then start studying for REG and aim to take at the beginning of January then BEC sometime before March 10.

This may not be exactly what you are looking for, but here is my opinion on the two options:

    1. Jump back into FAR for an end of November test – should be enough time to pick it up and complete with review phase – assuming you have retained F1-F4 material enough in your opinion.

    2. End of November test date should be enough time to pick up and study BEC (I used Becker also). Don't underestimate this one, though. I definitely recommend taking this one before the changes, but if you do FAR in November, you would still have Q1 2017 to knock out BEC. Or if you take BEC at the end of November, you will have Q1 for a re-take – let's hope that's not necessary!

Thanks to you both for the info and recommendations. I failed to mention that I have not passed any of the 4 sections yet.
