    I can hardly stand to crack open a book some days, between work and the rest of life. I have to constantly think about how much “free time” I had before I started this journey in 2010. I never thought I’d be studying still, but here I am. It may sound cheesy, but I have to envision myself passing – I will be so excited to call my mom, my husband, and I will probably post something on Facebook to the effect of “I’m a CPA witches!” 😉

    What do you plan to do when you pass? How will you celebrate?

    I want to take a cruise with my family and friends to make up for all the times I’ve turned down invitations so I could study. I can’t wait.

    FAR - 79 (2x)
    AUD - 81 (expired), 77!
    REG - 74! omg (3x) 87!!!!!!! I'm done! OMG!

    @Veronica, your post couldn't have come at a better time!

    I'm getting the CPA version of senioritis! I'm not motivated in the least to open my study materials and the idea of MCQs lately makes me wish I could pull out my own teeth instead. I woke this morning and asked myself why am I doing this in an effort to rekindle the fire I had going into this journey.

    Mainly I'm doing this because I have something to prove to myself – that I can and will attempt and succeed at getting this certification despite what my life is throwing at me. And as Willie Sutton said, “because that's where the money is!” 🙂

    As for life after the CPA… I'm most excited to get my life back! I'm hoping that next year I'll be able to buy a condo and move out on my own. I also can't wait get back on the exercise train. I've gained aout 11 lbs since May and am hellbent on taking the weight off and then some. My poor Zumba and P90X DVDs have been collecting dust for far too long.

    FAR 88 (07/15/11)
    BEC 83 (08/31/11)
    AUD 81 (10/15/11)

    @ Veronica75, I so agree with Kasia… What a perfect timing for this topic!!! The main thing that keeps me motivated is that I want to prove it to myself that I can do it. Well the MONEY is always a factor as well (lol). About a month ago, I just had a dry patch where I did not want to even think about any more CPA material at all. I tend to think to ahead on things and what I have held myself accountable for is “thinking only about 1 test at a time versus trying to plan the next couple of exams.”

    How will I celebrate? Well hopefully I will be done by Spring 2012. I definitely want to take a VACATION from life where I can just relax and not even think about anything. Possible get a Tan in the sun..

    BEC-Passed
    AUD-Passed
    REG-Passed

    My previous supervisor was a total witch and dumb as rocks. She was a CPA. I keep myself motivated by telling myself if that dumb @$$ can pass the CPA exam then I can 🙂

    I also turn 30 in May and I always told myself I'd be a CPA by 30. I have 6 months to pass REG & AUD! It can be done!

    I look at my wife and little boy and am motivated to get a new career for them. I am currently unemployed so I'm using my unemployed time to make something out of myself. IT is dead, so I'm switching to a new career.

    The prestige afterwords gets me motivated and the faces of the recruiters interviewing me for a job. I also plan on taking the CMA exam afterwords because I intend to work in Fortune 500 company. Imagine the CPA and CMA on your resume next to your name.

    @MyLifeisCPA – a tan sounds awesome. 🙂

    @Gifuto – I'm jealous… sounds like a great trip.

    I was smiling while reading all of these posts. I needed some positive energy! Thanks guys!

    I think I'm moving forward because of all of it… the achievement and prestige, the opportunity for a new job and a pay raise….

    …back to the books now!

    @cpamust

    Thanks for sharing!

    I've never really thought twice about taking the CPA exams (once I was going for Accounting). Getting the CPA done is just a stepping stone for me, and if I don't get it under my belt now, it will probably be harder to do later on, when things get busier.

    @Veronica,

    In the short term, the thing that is helping me is a sign my friends daughters made for me when I passed BEC and FAR in the second window. I live in a house of men, so it was so nice the girls did this for me. Anyway, I have the sign propped up on my dresser, so it is the first thing I see in the morning and the last thing I see. (Nice decorating, huh?) The sign says:

    1/2 way to a CPA

    Already a CBA

    (Certified Bad @SS)

    Let's Do it!!!!
