Just curious about the range ages…I’ve seen a lot of younger peeps discussing undergrad courses and I’m starting to feel old. So what say you?

    I’m 30…

31 (almost 32) with 3 kids and a fourth on the way (kids are 6,4,2). I work full-time, but recently switched to a job that is less stressful and mostly a 40 hour work week… so I decided to add the stress of the CPA test back into my life 🙂

I've been studying and taking tests and forgetting to show up for tests since 2005… I finally passed my first one today… hopefully this trend continues and I can FINALLY put CPA on my resume.

For the first time, during this last job search, I found the lack of CPA to be a HUGE impediment… clearing that up!

I'm 38. Started sitting for exam in 2000! Have 12 years of public accounting experience. Passed 2 parts on the last paper exam. Took time off from studying here and there. Got married and had a child.. Seen people come into the firm and get promoted over me because of those 3 letters. I'm determined to have it over with before my son starts Kindergarten in the Fall.

I wanted to say “27” because that's how I look & feel but then it wouldn't be in a spirit of true to the bones, ethical & professional cpa candidate, so here we go: I'm 40, married with kids, relatively new to accounting (worked in this field for past 11 years, second carrier due to immigration to the US), recently graduated with Master of Accountancy.

@MBA_MST_CPA, you just caused me to chock and spill coffee all of over, “CPA widow”!!!!!!

Wait, what? Jeff had 5 (five) kids?! Wow, it is difficult with 3 already, can't imagine dealing with 5.

@Candothis – I think that we qualify as the senior citizens on the board.

    REG - 11/5/2012 - 80
    BEC - 1/17/2013 - 76
    AUD - 2/22/2013 - 70 4/5/2013 - 75
    FAR - 5/28/2013 - 75 - Done!!!

Question: What do you call someone who only gets 75's and 76's on the four parts of the CPA exam?

    Answer: A CPA

I am 48. I really need to get this done. I have a husband and four children, (22,20,18,16) three in college and one a senior in high school. Not doing this for them, but for ME. Becoming a CPA is what I wanted to be 29 years ago, but as you see life happened. I thought I would be content doing taxes (17 years), running a small business but the industry have changed so much with so many due diligence requirements and tests to take. From tax preparer exams to Enrolled Agents, to Certified Bookkeepers. In my opinion, the only test of qualification that will generate the desired respect and income is the CPA and related (CIA, or CMA). Age is a number such a wonderful thing.

    It begins with a 75

I graduated from MSU in 2004, completed my MAC from 2005-2010 (working full time and going at night=5 year plan, ha!), and was hoping to hit CPA before turning 30 but auditing put a snag in my timeline! My revised goal is to become a CPA before I turn 31 in November! 😉 I have a husband and a dog and no kids. Much respect for those sitting for these exams with little ones, I don't know how you do it!!!!!!! 🙂

    Good luck everyone!!!!!!!!!
