What is the shortest amount of time you've studied for a test and passed?

    So, considering it took me about 2.5 months to study for BEC just to pass it, I wanted to get some insight as to how long others are taking in studying for various portions of the exams as well as whether they think it’s sufficient and if they passed.

    I also partly made this topic because my NTS is expiring on January 30, 2014. I have to reschedule my REG exam from November 30 to January 4, 2014 because of some conflicts. Which would leave me about 3 weeks to study for AUD (the last exam I’ll be taking).

    Furthermore, it’ll be busy season so…uh…I don’t even think I’ll get time off to take AUD. The only date I could sit without taking time off from work is exactly two weeks after my REG exam.

    Having said that, what’s the shortest amount of time you all have studied and passed?

    BEC (July 2013)
    FAR (OCT 2013)
    REG (NOV 2013)
    AUD (JAN 2014)

    The CPA Exam is an opponent that not even the Fellowship of the Ring would want to come across.

    I have a long...long...journey ahead of me.

    I don't want to sound cocky but I studied Aud for 23 days and managed 99. It was because I took aud in my last semester and graduated in may 2013

    FAR: 90 MAY 6 2013
    AUD: 99 MAY 29 2013
    REG: 84 July 1 2013
    BEC: 85 July 31 2013

    Everyone learns at a different pace. Personally, i think your timeline is a tad long. My mind set was to take all the sections in every window until I passed them all. ie: if I failed all four this window, I would take them all again in the next window until they were all passed. Thankfully, I passed 3/4 (hopefully 4/4 this Saturday) in this window so far.

    During my study time, i did have a part time job 3 days of the week and I would do minimal study when I got home. Do what you need to do to pass, but don't drag it on longer than it has too.

    Your scores are amazing, NC CPA! I can't believe you passed all four sections within such a short amount of time!

    @dutkas

    I noticed that you passed FAR within 3 weeks. Is there anything special you did? How was your study schedule like? Any special tips?

    I'm taking FAR on Oct 3rd and I've just finished F7. However, I haven't done any of the homework questions because I'm just trying to get all the lectures out of the way. Moreover, everything until F5 was fine but F6 and F7 have increased in difficulty (and my ability to understand/retain the information).

    You're right about the timeline; I wanted to try to get the exams out of the way faster but obligations took up way too much of my time.

    And now that I look at your scores again… AUD scored a 95 with only 15 days of studying? LOL the only thing I keep thinking is “…how…”

    BEC (July 2013)
    FAR (OCT 2013)
    REG (NOV 2013)
    AUD (JAN 2014)

    I spent 2 weeks each for both AUD and BEC, and 4 weeks each for FAR and REG. I should also mention I didn't have a job and took AUD as soon as I could after graduating like NC CPA did, and I stuck to a pretty strict regime of studying 25 hours a week with weekends off so I didn't burn out!

    AUD - 99 (5/2013)
    BEC - 93 (5/2013)
    FAR - 97 (7/2013)
    REG - 94 (8/2013)

    I spent 8 days for BEC and passed!

    Obviously that sounds insane, and I cannot do it. I actually spent about 40 days for BEC and passed, whereas I spent 29 days for Audit and Failed my first time.

    Everyone is different, there's certainly no rush unless you are trying to prove a point.

    REG = 58 (02-20-13), 75 (05-01-13)
    AUD = 67 (05-29-13), 79 (08-29-13)
    BEC = 83 (07-31-13)
    FAR = 72 (10-29-13), 69 (02-27-14), 73 (04-16-14), 81(08-13-14)

    Study Materials = Becker 2013 + Wiley Online Test Bank
    (75%) On my Way to a CPA (minus the experience requirement)!

    Hmm,

    For FAR, I did what you did but did MCQs on the backend of lectures. I got through them all at least once. I had about a week to review, Walking into the test I didn't feel prepared enough to pass, nor did I think I passed when I left the test center, haha. For me, what saved me was my understanding of Govt/NFP. I really knew them inside and out and it definitely saved me I think.

    Audit was easy for me. I just understood the material quick and even considered moving up the test date because I aced the becker exam #1 (91% overall). I did the same stuff. All mcqs and understood why things were the way they were rather then just memorizing. I thought Becker taught Audit well. Wiley emphasizes too much non-sense that you have a small chance of getting 1 question on. IT Auditing??? Becker cut the fat and gave you what you needed to pass.

    Man, I am truly in awe. You must have some crazy retention skills. I'll try to take a leaf out of your book, not for competition sake but more like I just want to be finished with these exams and also because my job will be starting soon.

    Going back to FAR, you said you finished mcq after each lecture. About how long did that take you? It takes me forever to get through those questions; usually a day per lecture (or more). I also take notes (pretty condensed but takes some time) on each lecture although for FAR I'm seeing it as a daunting task.

    I'm still trying to figure out whether I should keep REG scheduled for November 30 (I'll be out of the country after FAR and until October 30th). Then I could just do AUD in January so it'll give me December to study for it.

    OR…I just study for REG and AUD at the same time.

    Dear Lord.
