    Hello

This being my first post here, I am curious to know how people figure out which exams to take first. I am on my last quarter in getting a BA in accounting. Im thinking about taking advanced taxation because my professor told me it will help with the exam. Also any insight on the study materials to pass the exam would be helpful.

    Thank you.

It's up to you but I'd suggest FAR before AUD because you need to know GAAP for AUD.

Other than that, you can take exams in any order.

I took FAR, BEC, REG, AUD (last one left). You also should plan ahead and see how much time you need for each and how it aligns with the testing windows.

I'm using Roger CPA review and I love it.

    Good luck!

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

This will vary from person to person.

I would say take REG first then FAR and then AUD or BEC. I took BEC first AUD next and now on REG, the issue is passing the big monsters (REG and FAR) before the clock runs out on passing the other too.

I personally hate taxes so i should have started with REG first for myself. Others find FAR more challenging.

    FAR 05/27/14; 786/110 - Done !

FAR is the biggest one, that's why it makes more sense to take it first. That way, after you pass FAR, you'll have 18 months to pass the other 3 which need less preparation.

I took BEC next because I wanted a change from FAR. BEC took me 50% less time to prepare. After that it doesn't matter whether it's REG or AUD. I thought AUD was easier and still a little less material so I decided to take REG next.

    FAR: 81 (May 2013)
    BEC: 81 (July 2013)
    REG: 83 (August 2013)
    AUD: 82 (November 2013)
    California CPA since 1/30/14

Thank you guys for the feedback. After lurking around here for so long, I have found that Wiley is the most popular. Is there a big difference between Rogers materials or does it come down to personal choice.

So far I have plan to study off of,

    Complete Ninja notes and audio

    Complete Wiley exam review.

Is it wise for me to purchase the monthly Wiley Test bank now or after i study all the material? 47 dollars per Month can add up pretty quickly.

    Thank you guys in advance.

Well, Roger CPA review uses Wiley Test Bank so Wiley by itself is a good choice too, except you won't be getting the Roger's lectures which are amazing at explaining things especially for FAR & AUD. But I understand financial constraints. I got a 0% APR credit card and was able to pay for the review that way. I know it's expensive but it's worth every penny.

I spent 150 hrs studying for FAR, 80 for BEC, and 130 for REG. Passed all on my first try. I honestly don't think it would have been possible if it wasn't for Roger's review. Wiley software is good. I haven't heard of a monthly option to pay for it. Mine came with Roger's package and is active for 18 months. Roger's lectures are active for 12 months but you can pay $200/part for a 6 months extension.

So, if $ is an issue, I think you should be ok with Wiley & Ninja material. It just might take you a little more time to study.

Roger created his own textbooks based on Wiley but he took out all the important stuff. And added his own tips and mnemonics which help a lot to memorize the material.

    REG: 83 (August 2013)

Advanced taxation course will definitely help with REG. I only took Fed & State Individual Tax which was very helpful but you'll benefit from taking corp tax class as well.

REG simulations can be insane so it's important to know the details.
