Hi, I am new to this forum and to the whole process on becoming a CPA. I graduated 5 years ago and have been employed doing mostly lite accounting work, such as bank reconciliation, accounts receivable, payables, journaling. I use to do my own tax but haven’t for the last 5 years. Now I have all the requirement to sit for the CPA exam, of course still trying to find a CPA as a reference;-) I need honest feed on the review material you are using currently or used and was successfully. Review materials such as Becker, Gleim, etc

FYI: I am thinking about taking FAR 1st in May since it’s more comprehensive and longer.

Most review materials claim about an 80-90% pass rate, but the overall pass rate is about 50%, so either some people don't use any materials or the stats from the review materials aren't quite right. 😉

Basically, any major-name will have the information you need to pass. Becker, Yaeger, Roger, Gleim, CPAExcel, Wiley, etc. However, the one that will be best for you is the one that you can afford and that you personally learn best from. So look up samples of all of them and get a feel for what's out there and what you learn best from.

For me personally, I learned best from Wiley. Video lectures are prone to put me to sleep, so a comprehensive book was best. Wiley covers pretty much everything you even might see on the exam and covers it well enough that you know about it. The book might be 1000 pages long and dry as the Sahara desert, but it does the job. However, for some people, a book that dry would put them to sleep, or comprehending from reading is harder than watching lectures, etc. So, sample all of them and see what's best for you! I'm a HUGE Wiley fan, but I know that the best answer is different from person to person.

Yes. Wiley is more than enough to pass each of the four sections alone.

What one need is the ability to sit down and read the book from cover to end. More than one time.

At 803%, I believe NINJA has the highest pass rate.
