As the title says! Just took BEC today. Taking a break for two days and wanted to see what words motivates you to keep the grind on and the lazy off.

Mine are:

1. At the beginning when I’m studying and struggling to understand some concepts:

“To struggle some, is to progress some”

2. When Im feeling like just sitting around after work or during the weekend going on reddit or something:

“Your Dad said he would be surprised if I became more successful than him. The CPA is a one of the steps to prove him wrong”

“No one ever got successful by just sitting around”

3. When I’m studying and moral is starting to winder cause of fatigue or boredom:

“Passing these exams will get you 5k, 5k = your new playstation 4, custom built computer and tennis gear”

This is what motivates me – my coworker who makes $10k more than I do failed her first section of the exam twice and then gave up. It sounds horrible, but when I don't feel like studying, I think about the fact that I will be so much more qualified than she is (I also have a master degree and she does not) and will be able to move on to a better job.

The word “credit” by my first passed exam section was all the motivation I needed. When I passed my first exam (AUD), I printed the CPA exam status page from the NASBA website. I taped this print out at various places around my cubicle so anywhere I turned I could see it. It reminded me of where I started and how far I had came. I did this for each subsequent section I passed. I still have the final printout staring me in the face right now.

…meanwhile here I am in Southern California just 15 minutes away from the beach, staying inside studying all day, eating absolutely NO ice cream. Am I doing this wrong???
