As the title says! Just took BEC today. Taking a break for two days and wanted to see what words motivates you to keep the grind on and the lazy off.

    Mine are:

    1. At the beginning when I’m studying and struggling to understand some concepts:

“To struggle some, is to progress some”

    2. When Im feeling like just sitting around after work or during the weekend going on reddit or something:

“Your Dad said he would be surprised if I became more successful than him. The CPA is a one of the steps to prove him wrong”

“No one ever got successful by just sitting around”

    3. When I’m studying and moral is starting to winder cause of fatigue or boredom:

“Passing these exams will get you 5k, 5k = your new playstation 4, custom built computer and tennis gear”

@ Lilla I think the quote goes “Do. Or do not. There is no try.”-Yoda

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

Well, here is what motivates me:

“Once that you get your designation CPAhereIam, YOU can get access to greeeat jobs or open your biz in a warm place in USA!!! I've always wanted to live in California!! Near to the beach, where I ALWAYS see the sun, where I can use skirts, free my hair and just eat ice cream in the afternoon walking outside! (WTF I'm doing in Canada! hahahahaha)

I don't know that I have a specific word or phrase I use. As a former athlete I know what it is to physically dominate and break the will of your opponent. That means you have to watch more film, study tendencies, understand down/distance/situation personnel groupings/formation. Physically you have to be committed to build your body and your mind to be stronger and more focused than that of your opponent.

When I get tired and lose motivation, I remember that as an athlete they, your opponent/AICPA, aren't just going to let you win. Victory goes to whoever has the balls to take it! So in my mind pushing through being tired, confused, and distracted is me preparing myself to “take” a victory from the pocket protector wearing, pencil neck geeks at the AICPA.

I always try to remind myself how my problems are so small. I try to remember how unbelievably lucky I am to have my health. To live in a first world country. To have a good family. I know it sounds lame but it's so true.
