Have you changed your approach over the course of the tests? I'm wondering what is NOT working for you in your current approach or what you could add that would help solidify the material. I find the flashcards work for me, and repeating questions I miss until I can do them in my sleep.

    REG - Nov 4, 2013: 88
    FAR - Feb 27, 2014: 86
    AUD - April 5, 2014: 91
    BEC - May 6, 2014: 83

    Florida CPA 24 July 2014
(Done in seven months - thank you Jesus!!)

could be the way youre studying. if you took accounting in college and passed your classes you should be able to do this stuff. i shoot for at least 6 hours a day of very very very solid study time. i go through the lectures at least twice and review the mc at least twice and i dont memorize the answers i use logic for every single question that i come across. i review mnemonics and make flashcards and im loaded up on caffeine. if youre working thats rough but if you arent, make a concerted effort to have 6 hours of quality study time. phone is on silent, no tv, no fun. as olinto says, theres an inverse relationship between happiness and likeliness to pass the exam. you need to be miserable because of the time and effort youre putting into studying. sucks but thats what has worked for me. best of luck to you

I've tried everything, from purchasing the ninja notes, and wiley materials. what im doing now is taking notes on the chapters on Becker, in typing these notes in short form, and re-reading them, and writing out certain things i dont understand. but i dont know, everyone is different. I am basically there, im in the 70s, im not stupid…. Maybe I need to try harder?

No one has ever felt good after receiving bad news…..so the feeling is understandable, but giving up is something different

Licenses of other professions require that you wait some length of time if you fail, but our exam will let you take it again and again each test window.. Yes, we want to pass, but we have the luxury to study again, pay again, and eventually pass. You have passed a few sections already so what is stopping you from passing completely. Maybe you need to re-evaluate the study plan, maybe you are not giving yourself enough study time or enough review time, or too many distractions while studying.. Please, re-think giving up. You won't only give up on the test but your career as a CPA. Try it again. You're almost there. and the old saying go ” Quitters never win and Winners never quit”. Take a break, re-evaluate and get this done.

    It begins with a 75
Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass

instead of using all those other sources, just try sticking with becker and absolutely knowing everything in their books inside and out. trying to absorb too much material from different sources might be too broad, not building enough substance behind the concepts if that makes sense

Yeah, thats what I should do guys. I have my G-Dang Masters in Accounting, I should be able to pass this S&*^%, I am smart and I AM CAPABLE of doing it. I've only passed 1 section and I am going to lose it next month, but I should be able to take it again and pass. I just want to get Audit and FAR out of the way…. On the bright side of things, I am increasing my scores, so the next test should be that 75!

I genuinely think the key to passing these exams is having a solid study plan and schedule. Pick one study course and stick with it. Listen to all the lectures, read thru the material and take notes, do all the homework, not just once, but until you've gone back and gotten every question right, and do the sims. These tests aren't a measure of intelligence. They're a measure of your dedication and willingness to do whatever it takes to learn this stuff.

I have a tendency to get extremely discouraged with these tests. I have been on this journey for three years and I've given up twice, because of failing a test. Now I'm back on it and I'm going to get it done this time but the key for me, is my schedule. Every Sunday, I write out in my planner what I plan to get done that week, including what I want to review. I spend every single lunch hour studying in a conference room and I get home and within 30 minutes, I'm parked at my desk, studying. I normally take a 45 minute break to go to the gym, to clear my head and destress. I have three weeks left until I take FAR and I'll be waking up at 5am every day to get extra studying in. Seriously, you can do it. If you have a degree in accounting, you can pass these tests. There's no one foolproof method of studying so find what works for you and stick with it.
