Weird stuff that happens…

    Ok, so I was posting this morning and all of a sudden my Mac froze. I saw the little colored ball swirling and swirling to no avail. I turned off my computer, turned it back on…and it just stuck in the starting up mode. So, I left to work out (of course, I lugged my focus notes with me!!). I just came back and tried to turn it on and now I get that sign that means no..the circle symbol with a slash running through it.

    I mean come on! Here is my timeline: Nov 2010, I spill a coke on my Mac (I know, I know, stop laughing) and I literally fried my Mac. Picture me at the Geek squad counter crying my eyes out..asking the guys how was I going to study for BEC? That was a nice chunk of change. Then March of 2011, my computer totally freezes up and well, my hard drive blew. I lost everything on my computer……yep, my tax return, my Mom’s tax return. So, they replaced the hard drive and I bought a time machine….something that will continuously back up the Imac and the Mac for me, so the next time I won’t lose anything. Today, I can’t get past the start up screen and I am cursing that I didn’t set up the time machine….(I know, I know, more laughter, maybe some jabs, I get it). I hope I won’t lose everything again. But now this means a trip to the Apple store and it will take away from studying. Really? I am thinking, didn’t the universe think it was good enough that my hubby and I keep fighting…did we really have to put a dollop of gratuitous conflict on??????

    **Vent over*** sorry…felt better to get it out. Thanks. I am sure the lady at Petsmart won’t be able to understand me like you guys on the forum.

    Really hoping your day is better than mine.

    Aww, yankee. I'm sorry. Hang in there and look forward to the day when you won't be studying for the exam and you'll have those three letters after your name. It will come…

    Btw – I have my time machine hooked up to my iMac and its awesome. I think it backs up like 3 times a day. I havent had any problems with the iMac, but I feel good knowing that if something goes wrong I'll still have everything I need on the portable hard drive. (Unless the house burns down. Hmmm. Maybe I should get two portable hard drives and switch them every week or so.)

    @Mini

    was it hard to set up? I bought this in March and am sure I don't remember anything that they told me to do!

    BTW, I ran over the bike in the garage…….I seemed to think it was a Redbull can! OIY!!!

    First debacle: no passing scores: second fiasco: 2 out of three passing scores newest computer challenge: ???????

    I don't remember it being particularly difficult to set up. I think the time machine app is already installed on the computer, right? I think you just plug in the external hard drive, open up the time machine app, select the location of the external hard drive, and off it goes. I just leave it plugged in always so it backs up a few times a day.

    I should probably know this, but where do you stand on your tests right now?

    @mini

    I took Audit on 1/18 (praying like hell on that) and I sit for REG on 2/14. How is life by you? How many has Mrs. Mini knocked out already??

    Wow, you could be done this window! Exciting! How are you feeling about REG right now?

    Mrs. Mini took REG (86) and AUD (84) in the last window. She is taking a break to get through tax season (she is a tax manager at a local accounting firm) and will take FAR and BEC after busy season. She is making me look bad. lol.

    Can Mrs. Mini sit for me????? Wow, congrats to her. I trust life in CPA land is good…..

    I am having a hell of a day. I decided to use the Wiley test bank, since the IMac doesn't have Becker on it…and frankly I am too damn irritated to find those flipping disks, and well, you guessed it, my pin doesn't work. So, I am not moving ahead at all. In terms of REG, I have finished R1-R4 in Becker. Honestly I did well in all chapters for the most part. I think I faltered a bit on basis, but I will get that down. I feel like alot of the info is still in my brain (believe it or not) so I have this quiet calm about me. I know I can do it, I just have to do it for realz. I got a job offer which puts me starting on March 1st. So, I really hope I can be done with this then.

    Congrats on the job offer! That is exciting. Just keep plugging away. Take the rest of the day off, you'll never get decent studying in if you are frustrated and tired. A little break will go a long way. You should find the Becker discs and install on the Mac. Get it all setup so you are ready to get back at it tomorrow.

    I submitted my application Jan 3rd, but the CBA takes forever. Nothing is really going to change immediately when I get it though, so no big rush.

    Thanks. I am excited. It will be interesting since it is a growing franchise company, and there is so much opportunity to learn beyond accounting.

    You are probably right about the studying. They sent me another pin and nada, niet, nothing. What a pisser. I probably should use the time to find those disks to load..this is definitely a “Serenity Now” moment.

    Good talking to ya…have a good one!
