Ok, so here is my situation:

    Undergrad in Accounting – 1999

    MBA – December 2012.

I recently took a job I could not turn down and now have a hour and a half commute.

I do not have a set date by which I need to take the exam.

Considering that I spend 15 hours a week on the road and work full time, I have little time to study at home; however, I obviously have 15 hours a week that I can spend listening to audio.

I am asking for suggestions as to the best approach for preparing for the exam considering my situation. Ideally, I’m looking for an approach which has minimal “book” or “video” study time but maximum “audio” or listening study time.

In short, what’s the absolute best way to take advantage of this commute?

    Thanks for your suggestions

The Ninja audio works well, but it is not a stand alone study course. The Becker set has videos that you can listen to in the car, but they are meant to follow along the books. I don't know of a way to get around studying an actual book and practicing multiple choice questions. I have studied flashcards in the car, but it is tricky while driving.

I also took my first accounting courses pre-SOX legislation. Does your MBA specialize in accounting? I had to take a ton of pre-requisite accounting classes to catch up on the changes when I did my master's degree. Although, if you get a comprehensive set like Becker, they do a great job of covering all of the topics.

Gleim has audio CDs. They follow along with the book… and will refer to the book for complex examples. I had the 2012 books… and picked up the 2010 audio for REG used. The REG audio was actually recorded well in that it did not specifically focus on any numbers really that were tied to a specific year (just concepts). I also used ninja audio for FAR, and BEC… and narrated my own CDs for AUD.

What I would do with REG and any of the other audio is listen to the sections that applied to what I was working on in the books at that point.

Basically I just realized that it was a waste of my time to narrate entire sections for study purposes. Except for the jingle I put the standard audit report to (right before setting it on loop). That was useful.

    AUD - 75 - 07/06/2012
    FAR - 72, 74, 82 - 05/30/2013
    BEC - 84 - 01/16/2013
    REG - 60ish, 84 - 08/16/2013
