VENT:

I am taking FAR this Saturday. I have two days off from work to review review and review. I have my notes(from reading Roger book), Jeff’s audio and Wiley test bank. I plan Thurs to go through notes and MCQ myself to near death. Then Friday do the practice like assessments in Wiley test bank.

This week has been really rough. Been drowning in my review projects at work, which is creating doubt that I know anything about financial reporting.

Please say something, anything you think might help. I’m even open to the tough criticism. This is the most I have ever studies for a CPA exam, so dont look at my old scores. I have studied more each time, believe me.

The amount of material is frightening. But going through everything for the 2nd time(since my last testing on FAR in 2010) I noticed it wasnt super hard, just LOTS. Thanks for the advice, it all has been helpful. And it is good to hear from others also preparing for exams this weekend. Cant wait to check in and see how we all did! I got my email reminder today from exam center, its getting close!!

would you recommend going over the retail methods and also the ratios? my becker instructor didnt go over those and just said quickly look over them. i dont want to waste time remember how to do each retail method cause i know id eventually mix them up haha.

I am not very strong with the retail methods and I dont plan to make an effort to review them a lot. Ratios are a must, I believe. But that's just my opinion! How is your reviewing going? My day has been up and down, stong in some areas, weak in others of course.

My hair is falling out… Reading peoples testimonials on the recent FAR exam is freaking me out. Ive heard people say the SIMs were extremely difficult requiring tons of journal entries that werent covered in their review material. I've done my best to get a solid knowledge on all the topics.

FAR isn't nearly as bad as people make it out to be.

The sims are what make or break you.

Unless you're saddled with a lot of bond problems *raaaaage*, FAR is pretty straight forward out of the study material.

You guys can do this. It's gonna be a good weekend!

My testlets didn't get harder when I took it. The sims will have one huge sim, skip that one cuz its there to waste your time. Do the little ones first. I saved the big one for last and didn't finish it, but I did fill in zeros with the ones I couldn't finish.

I still passed! You'll do even better than me. The questions don't get that detailed. I didn't even study Consolidations or Not for Profit until the night before!

UGHH!! I am so not ready for my FAR exam tomorrow!

I realized last night that I still don't know the Acquisition method, and for some reason pensions are kicking my ass. I used to think pensions were easy. And I have decided that with the exception of partnerships, I'm ignoring F10. I can't even begin to try and memorize that stuff.

So my exam is tomorrow at noon. What do you all recommend I do until then? I'm working until 6 tonight (listening to Ninja Audio while I work). Should I study late night, and then sleep in and go to the exam? Or study until semi-late, sleep, get up early and review for a few hours before I take the exam?

I think you should crank out as many MCQ tonight, get a good nights sleep, review a little(no ?'s) and then take the exam. That is my plan. I am also realizing I have forgotten some stuff, but all we can do is do our best at this point. I only feel about 80% prepared. Dont freak out. 🙂

For those Becker users out there, if you've taken the Final exams, what were your scores? I averaged 59% on the MCQ's and am freakingg out!

I haven't even taken any of the Final Exams. I'm doing pretty terrible on the regular MCQs. In the low 70's.

Good idea littlenumberrobot. I think I'll just review random MCQs tonight and then read notes tomorrow morning and go over general concepts for a couple of hours.
