    VENT:

I am taking FAR this Saturday. I have two days off from work to review review and review. I have my notes(from reading Roger book), Jeff’s audio and Wiley test bank. I plan Thurs to go through notes and MCQ myself to near death. Then Friday do the practice like assessments in Wiley test bank.

This week has been really rough. Been drowning in my review projects at work, which is creating doubt that I know anything about financial reporting.

Please say something, anything you think might help. I’m even open to the tough criticism. This is the most I have ever studies for a CPA exam, so dont look at my old scores. I have studied more each time, believe me.

ok venting over…. back to work 🙁

My FAR exam is scheduled for Friday. I'm terrified as this will be my first exam ever.

Since the last time you took the FAR exam, have you learned anything? Maybe go over the topics that you had to make educated guesses on the exam. If you have learned a lot since your past exam, theres reason to be optimistic. This only means that your score will improve. I will definitely check back with you to see how you did. We can compare our results and complain to each other about how hard the exam was lol!

@littlenumberrobot i'm taking FAR this Friday as well. I took off Monday and Tuesday and went back to work today. I'm leaving early on Friday to go straight to library. I understand completely how you are feeling. When all else fails stick with cranking out the MCQ's and reviewing your notes. A little prayer doesn't hurt either 🙂 Hang in there!! I'll check back with you in September score release 🙂

I know how you feel. I have FAR on Sat also. I have to work all week. I've barely been able to focus this week because I don't know where to direct my focus and I have such little time. I was doing some cpareviewforfree.com at work today and got really overwhelmed because I answered every pension question wrong. So now I'm listening to Ninja audio on gov and nfp while I work. When I get home I guess I'll focus on understanding pensions.

Anyway, it's hard not to be panicked and freaked out, there is SO MUCH information!

I'd recommend just picking some areas you're weak on and trying to understand. I'd focus on main topics. That's what I'm doing.

@ naptural and littlenumber- Let's be sure to check back in regarding our exam experience and then score release.

Taking FAR on the 31st. Tomorrow is my last official day of work and then I am on vacation for a week until the exam. I have finished half of my final review and have all day every day for a week to do the other half. This is my last part and I just want to be done!

I'm taking FAR the 30th and I haven't stopped freaking in the last two weeks. I passed Audit in early July but the amount of material for FAR is killing me. In Audit, most of the time I could logically think through to the answer. In FAR, if you don't know the formula and whats included and excluded then you're screwed. The common theme seems to know Gov and NFP frontwards and backwards, even though it's only 20% of the test. Good luck to ya!

    AUD - 82 (July)
    FAR - 85 (Aug)
    BEC - 82 (Oct)
    REG - 75 (Nov)

Don't expect to know all the material. I went into the test feeling so unprepared, but oddly calm about it. As long as you study in a way that's effective for you, you can do it! If I can pass studying for 4 weeks while working full time and being a full time single mom, you all can definitely pass!

That is what I keep telling myself. I am not going to know EVERYTHING. My progress tests so far for chps 1 through 5 are in the mid 80s which I am happy about. It means I am remembering MOST of it. I am also trying to memorize as many of the flashcard as I can as it will help me with the IFRS vs GAAP rules and the various calculations. SO far I have the first three chapters of flashcards down. I am saving all of my sims for the end as it will reinforce what I have learned in my final review.

    I just want better than a 75!

I took FAR last month and I originally had to push it back a few days because I got rocked by an awful case of Tonsillitis. I didn't study for an entire week and then had a few days of review before going in and I still managed to pass. I did most of my learning by doing as many MCQs as I could before exam day. I came out of the exam feeling defeated.

I recommend going through as many MCQs as possible. Getting yourself familiar will help you power through the first 3 testlets and give you enough time in the SIMs that you can refer to the authoritative literature to check your answers. You all can do this 🙂 Good luck!!
