How long should I take to study?

I am working full time in tax while I am studying for REG so I think that might help

It depends on what you already know from your tax experience. I was well versed in individual income tax so I didn't study that at all. I mostly studied Business Law because I knew that was my weakest area. Some things I would figure out would be treatment of G/L: what's the holding period, is it LT or ST, is it ordinary income or capital gains income. Figuring out what the basis is in your assets/partnership. Figure out corporate earnings and profits/accumulated earnings and profits. The annual gift tax exclusion rate.

The best way to learn something for REG is to search “IRS PUB [Insert Topic]” . For personal tax, I'd consider looking a 1040 when you're solving it so you can visually see where you're at. I'm taking far in a week what's the best way to study for that?

How long should you study? YMMV It's the one I've studied the least for and passed because of my tax experience. Don't underestimate the Business Law section and learn how to use the Internal Revenue Code.
