I have already failed several exams and have yet to passed.

That has not discouraged me one bit. Not only that but i mostly have only AP experience. I am an EA however, with one tax season under my belt. To make matters worse, i lost my retail job. Am i sweating it HELL NO!

Why because I got goals, 3 actually. I intend to have 3 designations next to my name. The EA, CPA, and CMA as well as becoming either a Controller or CFO.

It’s what’s been driving me. Those three goals are whats driving me. When i am a CPA or in he process of becoming a CPA with a great job, i plan on rubbing it in the faces of my former managers and supervisors at my former retail job.

Plus you have to remember, we are intillegent and smart enough to not let these exams beat us. It’s why we do what we do.

So to all who have failed and thought about quitting, i say you guys need to take a moment and look at what your goals are again and use that as motivation and drive to continue pushing to pas those exams.

Exactly- find your motivation and use it to help pass the exam. My motivation was getting away from a terrible boss who tolerated awful behavior from coworkers but that's another post.

Wishing all the best to current candidates on this site. šŸ™‚

Well, my perspective is that motivation in and of itself is FINE….but if your strategy for passing the exam is of low quality the motivation will eventually run thin (and so will your pocket book and time). People who keep failing the exam sections over and over have a very low quality preparation procedure, and that needs to be fixed so that they can eventually pass the exam. If left unfixed, they will never actually pass all four sections in a rolling 18 month period and their motivation will eventually run out.

    - BEC: Sunday, August 24th
    - FAR: Saturday, November 29th
    - AUD: TBA for February 2015
    - REG: TBA for May 2015

John tucker be careful about generalizing about people who fail over and over LOL. You don't know the challenges they faced during the process (some with thyroid cancer, some who lost a family member, some who tried to do this with children and a full time job.) in some cases you may be correct about quality of preparation but until you've been there, you don't know.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

MintsRGood, you have no idea. The goals that I have laid out is not only for my personal achievements but to later throw it in the faces of my former employer's managers and supervisors faces. Everytime I need motivation, I just remember the last 8 months of my former retail job. The Idiots I had to deal with there, both managers and supervisors. The INCOMPETENCE. THE ARROGANCE! THE I THINK I DESERVE TO BE PROMOTED EVEN THOUGH I CANT MANAGE MY WAY OUT OF A PAPER BAG!

OH I AM LOOKING FORWARD TO THAT DAY!
