    Hi all. I really truly badly want to be a CPA but keep failing try after try. Surprisingly I have not lost hope yet. I work full time but I do study alot. I did really well in college as well so I do not know what is wrong with me. Every holiday for the past year and a half, i have taken to study. I used every single weekend to study but it feels like my efforts are in vain.

    I took BEC 3 times; 73;73; 62 🙁 All with Becker and I used the Ninja notes the third time

    I took AUD 1 time; 71 🙁 Becker

    I took FARE 1 time 54 🙁 Becker

    I do ALL the homework , I just dont know what I am doing wrong. Any tips anyone?

    I would continue doing Becker and add Wiley, Ninja audio and Ninja notes. Take notes in a notebook for each chapter and read them every day. Once you get all the chapters written, it takes a while to read them, but keep doing it anyhow…every single day. Re-reading is the only way to get it in your brain and keep it there.

    Get the Ninja audio and listen to it in the car to and from work. I listened to it while I was falling asleep and kept it playing while I slept, too. (I know that is extreme, but I was really scared I would not pass REG.)

    Go to the study thread for whatever test you are taking and read it. Any topics that people are struggling on, take note, try to help, ask questions. This will get the material in your brain.

    I took a week a chapter and then at least two to review. My best score was when I did a week a chapter and did Becker at night and Wiley at lunch, listening to the audio in the car to and from work. In that last two week review time, I read my notes every single day and then in the final four days, read them twice. Yes, I got up early to do it before work.

    Keep going, live it and give up your social life. You CAN win!

    I have to agree with AnnaNuthaCPA…add Wiley to your tools. What you have is good…but practicing those MC and sims is important and the Wiley test bank has thousands of questions I believe. So that you won't really be memorizing them like it can be easy to do, but learning why the answer is right or wrong. About a week before the exam, I would just do MC questions like mad…make it your life. When you get a question wrong, read the explanation (which will pop up in Wiley) so that you know WHY it is wrong…that is an important concept. If you understand that, you will be able to work similar questions with success. In my experience on the exam, I had quite a few questions that I had seen in Becker or Wiley that were just reworded or had different numbers but were very very similar. That is why I say learn how to work those questions and you will be fine with the exam questions.

    One more thing…I don't know where you are studying, but studying in a quiet place always helped me. I have three children so finding a quiet space in my house was difficult. But I did because studying with all the noise really distracted me so much that I really wasn't picking up the information I was studying. Find a study place that works for you, wherever it may be.

    Good luck to you. This journey is never easy, remember, because if it was everyone could do it. When you pass and get your license, you will be a distinguished professional and that is something to look forward to.

    FAR - 4/11/13 -- 85!!!! Thank you God!!
    AUD - 4/24/13 -- 98 Wow! Praise God!
    REG - 5/10/13 -- 89...yay!!!
    BEC - 5/25/13 -- 87!!! Done! On to the ethics exam!

    @vcpa

    First of all I would just like to say that you have not failed for if you fail, you fail to try. You just have not sucessfully passed an exam

    yet. From your signature line, it appears that you have taken five exams. I took 13 exams over two and a half years. There are previous posters on here that have taken over 20 exams before conquering the beast. You are defintely in the right frame of mind and not giving up!!

    Each time I would not get a passing score, I would start the study material over again from scratch as though I had never seen it before.

    I was blogger Karen on here. In my last blog, I wrote about the 4D's I believe necessary in not only sucessfully completing the CPA exam but is applicable to any goal you may have in life. Maybe you can look that up for some encouragement.

    Best wishes!!

    @vcpa,

    Weekend study is not enough. You have to put in at least 20-30 hours a week to be close to ready. I am sure it takes less for others but if you are a slow learner like me then more time and plenty of time for review is necessary. Don't give up though…..you can do this. ask plenty of questions. Through the message board or your review course there is someone to help you get this. Just hang in…..

    It begins with a 75
    Been here too long as a cheerleader....ready to pass
