Now I remember why it takes me twice as long to listen to these videos! I have to keep pausing to catch up to this guy speed reading the book. Ef this, no really. Having done WTB for FAR going back to Becker is a change to say the least!

How does speed reading entire paragraphs do any justice to the candidate? Sometimes I don’t know what page he’s on….I have to pause and compare page numbers. He is by far the least engaging of the lot. Booo Gearty! Booo!

I’m blowing through chapters at a clip of two to three per week and will then switch to WTB and Becker final review for the final month and change.

    AUD - 75*, 88 done 5/14! (*exp)
    BEC - 74 , 77
    REG - 65 , 76 (10 point combooo!!)
    FAR - 69 , 75

    Dr: perseverance
    Dr: intelligence
    Dr: luck
    . Cr: . advisory score

Just remember that Becker's program has a lot more to offer than the videos:

Their books have a lot of good examples and computations.

Their test bank has more multiple choice questions than Wiley and Cpaexcel

Their Authoritative Literature TBS is the best in the business.

I'm just trying to keep Becker users from spending a lot more money, because they think videos are the only way to learn this stuff. There are review courses out there with worst videos. Yaeger is slightly better than Becker. Roger seems to have the best videos.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I think I might be in the minority here, but I actually like Gearty. I highlight everything he says, and then re-write those portions later. He's a loveable accounting nerd! Whats not to, again, like?

    Gearty

He is interesting and I met him in person. But I have been a CPA for over 20 years. I can't comment on him now as I took Becker back when Newt was alive, the test was all four parts and paper and pencil.

Yes, it was no computer back then. Held in a large ballroom and you could only take it twice a year. And you have to take all four parts, pass at least two and move on with time constraints. Back in the day I did Becker and bought the TotalTape Videos via VCR tape. Tim was on them and they helped me so much.

Becker was the audio tape plus the instructor, that damn RED pencil, and boredom. But it worked and worked well. I passed three parts and went back to finish (memorize) Tax.

Thanks to Tim and the others on Total Tape and Becker. The pain was worth it. So odd to see him with grey hair but then now I have it.

@5280 You are not the only one, I like Gearty too. I didn't like it so much for my 1st exam, FAR but i got used to it and actually enjoy it now. It definitely helps during the final review.

    Becker, Ninja Audio + Notes

    FAR: 80 (Aug 2013)
    AUD: 91 (Nov 2013)
    BEC: 79 (Feb 2014)
