One of the worst things regarding CPA testing is sitting in the test room with someone who has a writing exam. I know some can just dismiss that most annoying noise, but I can’t; I really just want to walk over a crack that keyboard in half. Oh, and using those sad excuse for headphones just makes it worse.

Yeah, I had to endure that for the first 45 minutes of my REG test. The headphones definitely did nothing. I can also hear the loud BEEP whenever someone opens the Prometric front door (at least once every 5 mins!). I get very distracted by noise and prefer complete silence but unfortunately that's just how it goes 🙁

Prometric will allow you to bring in your own soft ear plugs. I highly recommend it. I wore them while I was studying too so they'd feel “natural” to me on test day.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

Yeah, sounds bother me. I felt bad during BEC since I was the one making noise that time (for the W/C part anyway).

Typing sounds aside (since that can't be helped), the guy next to me kept sighing and muttering to himself. It was very distracting! I wonder how he did on his test; it didn't sound like it was going well.

    AUD 11/11/13 - 92
    BEC 11/20/13 - 87

Hahha – I once had this lady next to me mubbling for the entire 3 hours!! I honestly wanted to hit her with my key board and say SHHHHHH …

I don't like those headphones, It makes my ears suffocate and feel itchy. Nice next time i will bring soft ear plugs and see if my prometric location allows me to use them.

(sometimes the ladies at prometric can be really cows)

    FAR 05/27/14; 786/110 - Done !

I always brought soft ear plugs. First exam I didn't know you could and a girl in the waiting room offered an extra pair. Never would go in without them.

    FAR - 84
    BEC - 89
    AUD - 93
    REG - 87

I wear the soft ear plugs and the headphones over my ears. It has really helped me stay focused.

Tapping is highly annoying but those soft ear plugs won't help you in the least if you have a farter in your midst!!!! I thought I was going to throw up under my desk for audit retake #3 because some jerk was peeling the paint off the walls with stench. I wouldn't wish the experience of spending 4 hours in an enclosed space with that guy on my worst enemy.

I hate my prometric with a passion and hopefully will never have to set foot in there again after 1/6!!!!
