Hey all, if you could be so kind, I need some help regarding study materials. I started studying in November with yaeger and used it for audit and got a 74 when I thought I would do horrible. I went and tried yaeger for FAR and hated it, so I did the lectures then went through reading the book and taking notes. Got a 56. Re studied for audit and got my score back of 72 when I thought I killed that test. I’m not stupid and completely capable of passing these tests but I think I need a new study material because my method is simply not working. Does Becker really live up to the hype? I have friends who use it and are passing and it seems like it really maps everything out for you on how to pass. Unlike me who is just trying to know everything by reading the Wiley book and going through the WTB and not being efficient. Any advise on people who have been so lost that switched to Becker and finally got on a roll? I have a job so I’m not broke with money and I know that Becker gives an 18 month loan however I’m trying to get back into public accounting so hopefully an employer will pick up the tab on that if I can get a job by then . I am in desperate need of some help because my plan is failing

I am using Becker but I haven't used anything else. I can't argue with the results because they've been great but I don't actually like Becker. I follow their program (watch lecture, do all the highlighting, do all the MCQ, do the finals, and go through the flashcards) and it seems to work great (for me at least) but it's so boring. It's also been a really long time since I've been in college so I had alot to relearn (and learn for the first time) and it has accomplished that. The lectures are also great if you have insomnia…I have a really hard time staying awake for more than 30 minutes.

    FAR - 93 (YAY!!!!)
    REG - 93 (Double YAY!)
    BEC - 87 (Whew!)
    AUD - 96 (DONE!!!!!)

I am currently studying for FAR and it's my second attempt. First time around I used Becker- I personally did not love it! I thought the lectures were boring and long! I could never stay focused long enough and found myself just going through the motions not really understanding it- and the results showed in my score!! When it expired I decided to try Roger- as it is cheaper and I'd read some great things on Another71. I've only gone through about 10% of the lectures but so far I really like it! The lectures and sections are shorter, so it is easier to give it your full attention. Roger is pretty entertaining considering it's a lecture about accounting! I think the fact that he's constantly drinking Mountain Dew pretty much sums it up! I bought the Ninja questions to do in addition to the Roger questions! I think between the two I'll have plenty of MCQ to go through. Hope this helps!

Thanks for the responses. I think I may go Becker because I have watched some sample lectures and enjoy the structure of it all, they really seem to go through everything and tell you what to write down and to look at. Being I am a good learner but not a good test taker, I need lots of structure on what to look at and memorize so I can calm my nerves in order to succeed . That way has led me to learn best and get good scores in college in the past. I am okay with boring lectures, after all these years of accounting classes and 6 months of CPA studying I realize I am never going to finish a study session and say “man I want to do that again!” haha

IMO, though not perfect, Becker's videos and books have been the best for me. However, when I finish all of Becker, I crank out questions using the Gliem test bank pulling from all material.I've gone 2/3 in one window using this method.

    AUD - 72,(Retake 8/14)
    FAR - 81
    BEC - 80
    REG - TBA (Scheduled 7/15)

    Becker, Gliem
