    Hi Folks

Just need to vent a little bit and didnt know where else to turn to , does anyone else have support problems from their family while taking the exam, i have been testing for almost a year now and my husband cannot just take it anymore , hes whiny and cranky ALL THE TIME, he complains when i am studying that he is suffering because his life is on hold because of my exams,he cant go out for vacations etc … when i dont pass a part he’s the first one to show empathy for a day and then he gets back to his routine of being cranky and blaming me for everything that goes wrong . In the middle of all this it is very difficult for me to study and concentrate in the house. I dont think he understands what this exam entails at all……..

I think that a lot of us can relate to your situation! My husband is very supportive and I'm lucky but I can tell he's getting annoyed that I've been trying to get FAR done for over 6 months now. It has been my BEAST and the entire process has an impact on our schedules and my family! He is working full-time and has to take care of the kids more than ever.

Something that has helped us….you mentioned that he complains he can't go on vacation…..I bought him a trip to Nashville to visit his brother the weekend after I took Audit. I wanted to relax with him and the kids the weekend after (I took it on a Friday) and then the next weekend, I wasn't really intensely studying for FAR yet. So he got to have his little vacation.

I do have to remind him that it's ME that's stressed and taking the test and not him! All he needs to do is be supportive and pick up where I'm lacking around the house! Just tell him that he needs to support you until you are DONE!

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

    CPA Class of 2012 🙂

I'm sorry you are feeling this way, it's a sucky place to be in. Many of us have been through this and it does get better. I 100% agree with Mrs 300 advise.

Good Luck & I hope things get better. You are half way there!!!

I actually decided to retake the CPA exam after almost 10 years while separated from my husband to distract me—now we are getting divorced and I'm happy that I will hopefully be a CPA by the end of the year. I have an overwhelming amount of support from friends and family (thank goodness) but know that if we were still together when I was studying, it would not be that easy with him.

Explain to your husband that this is important to you–no more important than him but something you need to complete for your career.

    FARE--78
    AUDIT--88
    REG--81
    BEC--75

    DONE!!!!

I havent started studying…Heck I have not gotten my BA in Accounting yet lol But I do have a lazy fiance and he does get on my last nerve sometimes…I cook, clean the house, take care of the kids and go to school online. I told him if i have to add full time work on top of that that i was not going to be happy and probably rip his head OFF! Lol sorry Comotar comes out sometimes! He has been calling me that ever since I had yelled at him bc he was bugging me the day of my Calc 2 exam!

I can be mean so I usually say”fuck off”and give me a freaking hour to study, Geez! I guess you can make that statement “more” G rated lol

    I totally understand you!
