I spent January 3rd to August 15th studying for CPA exams.

    My scores:

    FAR: 72, 68, 73

    REG: 61, 70

    AUD: 65, 84 (passed)

    BEC: 89 (passed)

So this most recent batch I got a 73 on FAR and a 70 on REG. If I couldn’t pass these exams while I had no job and no school for the last 8 months… do I really have a hope now that I’ve started working full time with a big four firm? I’m so upset I got so close but simulations are where I always fail the exam. Is there any way to practice sims? I have Becker and Ninja Notes.

    FAR: 72, 68, 73, 78 (passed)
    REG: 61, 70, 73, 63, 78 (passed)
    AUD: 65, 84 (passed)
    BEC: 89 (passed)

NASBA gave Doby a passing score, Doby is freeee!!

I'm sorry, that does suck but it's not the end of the world. You can easily take one of the exams again before busy season and then another in the summer.

I feel like if you study well enough for the MCQs, you'll have enough knowledge to at least get my on the SIMS and still be able to pass the exam.

What do you score on the Becker practice exams/tests? I'd suggest keep working those. For every problem you are unsure about or get wrong, read the answer explanation and, if needed, click on the go to book button and go read that portion of the chapter. Also, I always snip the problem & solution and then copy & paste it into Word, and then read that word doc when the exam date gets closer.

You went from a 65 to an 84 for AUD. What did you do differently? You are not that far away from a 75 on either of these sections. I understand your frustration, but if you see the point increase that you got on your prior retakes of these sections again, you'll pass, so I wouldnt lose hope just yet.

    REG - Passed!!
    BEC - Passed
    FAR - Passed
    AUD - Passed

People pass these exams while working full time. It takes a tremendous amount of dedication, but its entirely do-able.

    FAR- 77
    AUD -49, 71, 84
    REG -56,75!
    BEC -75

Massachusetts CPA (non reporting) since 3/12.

I had a friend who raised her FAR score by 6 or 7 points that she chalks up entirely to starting working in public. Once she got experience doing some of the things that are tested, she understood them better. So yeah, it'll be harder to find time to study, but you might gain a few points through experience.

    REG- 53, 91
    BEC- 88
    FAR- 62, 85
    AUD- 85

    Ethics- 93

My suggestion is that you stop taking multiple exams in every window. Just focus on one exam and study for a 99. Then in the next window, focus on your next exam.

I like Mini's advice. I learned that the hard way. You may be overextending yourself.

    FAR Passed
    REG Passed
    AUD Passed
    BEC Passed

All aboard, this train's leaving. Next stop, TBD!

Be really strong with your multiple choice and you can still pass if you’re weaker in the SIMS portion. I was also weaker in SIMS both times I took FAR (74, 79) but passed so it can be done. I didn’t use Becker but lots of Becker folks have used Wiley for supplemental questions especially if they have already beenthrough the Becker questions multiple times.

As for practicing the SIMS, to me, they are such a crap shoot that you could practice all the SIMS in your books and still not see anything like the real ones. Try and leave ample time (I left 1.5 hours) for the SIMS since that’s where you struggle. Practice a few but just know your topics and leave time!

I also agree with Mini about focusing on one exam. Tackle one then move on.

Good news is…you have two down! Good luck!

There is definitely hope. If you prepare and don't cut any corners, you might have a slight advantage the next time.

HOPEFULLY your first few months in public accounting won't be complete hell. I had a solid 2 months before I was working 50+. Try your best to get it done. Stay focused, and try to study a little bit everyday. Come up with a plan and stick to it.

Even if you are completely miserable for the few months that you are studying, do your best to get it done. The longer you are in public accounting, the busier you will be. You will find yourself busy even during the “slow” times. Trust me. This is someone who has worked in Public Accounting for 8 years and I JUST passed the exam last month.

    Good luck!!!

    REG - 80 (Becker only)
    BEC - 76 (Becker only)
    AUD - 71, 76 (Becker only)
FAR - 65, 74, 81! (Becker, Wiley Test Bank, Ninja notes & Audio)

    CPA Class of 2012 🙂
