    Hello All,

I’m just curious. Has anyone (in this forum obviously) passed any part of the CPA exam by doing Becker MCQ exclusively and ignoring the video lectures and book. I figured each question has a rationale so it should be possible to just repeatedly do MCQs and take note of the rationales.

My time is limited so I contemplated about doing this. Has anyone here used this strategy?

I ONLY used the Wiley Test Bank. They explain every incorrect answer and every correct answer so I didn't see the need for any book/lectures.

    AUD – 80

    BEC – 86

    FAR – 86

    REG – 74, 81

I always watched the lectures, skimmed through the book, and did a ton of MCQs.

I have to agree with DJN and Adrost, the lectures can be annoying at times, but they also can be very helpful. There were a ton of things that Peter and Tim would explain and re-explain that just made them stick.

If you have to, try out a method on your first exam and see the results. If you score low and feel unprepared, you know you have to make changes. I guess sometimes thats the only way people get into a personal study habit and knock these things out

The lectures provide additional hints and creative ways to memorize things that they make you write down in the book. I learn more by doing and practice so the MCQ's are where I feel I learn the most. However watching the lectures provides you with a good basis to start with.

I think the lectures is a good guideline from wandering through the material. It's good to know what to study instead of guessing or reading so much irrelevant materials.

    It begins with a 75

I was thinking a combination of the Wiley Book and Ninja Notes/Audio might be a good choice for you…

I'm using Roger CPA Review, I really like his style and he has a book that is easier and more helpful than Wiley and has additional questions, but you also get the Wiley text, software and access to the online testbank. Honestly when I open the Wiley book my eyes want to just glaze over. The print is small, the book is thick, the paper is thin… Anyway I think Roger's course is a little cheaper than Becker.

    FAR - 7/13 - 72, 11/13- 74, 2/14- 82!!! Best score ever (for me)!!!
BEC - 1/14 - 75!!! Perfect score! First Pass! YAY!!!
    AUD - 8/14 - 80!!!
    REG - 5/14 - 72, 10/14 - 66, 1/15 - 78 - DONE FOREVER!!!
I did 5 of the UNA and CPAExcel classes to earn units.
