Studying strategy, advice please!

Hi all, I’m trying to squeeze 3 sections which are AUD, REG and BEC in the last testing window. I’m planning to take AUD on Oct 5th, BEC on Oct 19th and REG on Nov 27th (or 30th if I can’t make it). It may sound impossible but since I’m in CA, this is my last chance to try to pass before the new change in 2014.

Do you think about 6 weeks are enough for REG given the fact I never touch tax except for 1 basic class that I took during my college 2 years ago? Or should I switch REG and BEC? Also any advice on how to study for 2 sections (AUD-BEC or AUD-REG) at the same time? I will take FAR this Saturday and of course will pretend that I’ll pass until otherwise. So basically I will start studying again next Monday.

    Thanks a bunch! πŸ™‚

Whether it's enough or not all depends on how quickly you learn. However, at the moment, you have 6 weeks (approx) till your first round of tests, so I'd say that if REG is your biggest concern, then it makes sense to have it by the one that's Nov 27 and has 6 weeks devoted to it, rather than AUD or BEC which will be “sharing” 6 weeks, since it sounds like you're more comfortable with them.

Are you working, too, or just studying? If you're just studying, then you've got this in the bag. If you're working, too, then you'll have a struggle, but you can do it. πŸ™‚ Just focus on understanding the concepts well, drill MCQs and SIMs, and you can have that CPA by Dec 31!

Thanks for your input, Lilla. I'm working full time but have no other obligation. I guess now I need to figure out how to study AUD and BEC at the same time, sigh. I hope the fear of spending more time and money for new requirements can get me through this πŸ™‚ And congrats on passing 2 sections, good luck with the rest!

I've heard most people will study one, then study the other, then go back and review jointly…so like do your initial study for BEC, then AUD, then review AUD, and review BEC between AUD and BEC. With 2 weeks between tests, that should be enough time to refresh your memory of what you'd studied for BEC, if you studied for it first. I'm sure you can do it! Not having obligations outside of work will make it much more attainable, too. πŸ™‚
