So I have heard tips on how to study MCQ’s more efficiently rather than just answering questions and reading explanations which can sometimes become monotonous. I have heard of keeping a word document to take notes as you go through MCQ’s to keep track of troubled areas or to jot down notes. I personally use a Surface Pro so I have a stylus, so I split the screen with MCQ’s on one side and a OneNote document on the other to “handwrite” and notes or to use as scratch paper for computational problems. Any other techniques you have heard of or have used that seemed helpful are welcomed.

I would recommend doing MCQs in either review mode so you can see and learn from the answer immediately, or doing them in test mode in sets of 10, so you can quickly finish the question set and review before you forget what the question body was. The faster you can churn and review, the more you can do, and the more opportunities you have to learn.

I took notes for BEC and REG MCQS, but I did not feel it was a worth while use of time, and they were so messy and sloppy that they were very difficult to re-read my own notes. To each their own.

I take hand written notes as I'm going through the MCQs. After I complete a chapter or section, I re-read. Anything that doesn't ring a bell whatsoever, I make a flash card. I then type up the notes but I'm not just transcribing them, I'm reading them and trying to understand them. After I have about 5 pages of typed notes, I print them and then re-read about once a week or so. For AUD, I ended up with about 20 pages of notes, with FAR I'm on target to get about 20 pages too. By the time I take the exam, the printed notes are torn up because I highlight, star items, take extra notes etc. I failed audit several times, I used this method last time and I ended up passing. I'm doing the same method with FAR and it seems to be going well so far.
