Hi,

I have FAR in one month. It’s my last part but by far the least intuitive for me. From past studying successes I’ve experienced, I was thinking about studying using only MCQ and taking many notes when the explanations are revealed. I know about Jeff’s post: https://www.another71.com/how-to-pass-the-cpa-exam-in-20-days#sthash.WyUch6Qh.dpuf about using this method but I was wondering if anyone has actually passed a part (particularly FAR) from scratch using only MCQ. Meaning never got through a single chapter, lecture, etc from the course they have and intentionally started from the geico doing MCQ sets. FYI I have CPAExcel Platinum, the WTB, and I will buy ninja MCQ if I get through of those questions. Appreciate anybody sharing their experiences if they’ve tried this. Thank you!

I passed FAR by using only Ninja MCQ. Granted I had just finished Intermediate II about 3 months before, so all of the concepts were fresh in my mind.

@Biff-1955-Tannen did you use Ninja MCQ from start to end exclusively? You didn't like get through half of the course material and at crunch time only hammer away at MCQ?

If used exclusively, what specifically did you do? Just do as many MCQ as possible and take notes as you went?

I've done it with FAR REG and AUD, except my notes were from Becker book.

I used it exclusively. First I would use the “new questions” feature and run through section by section, every question. I would spend enough time on each question to understand why the answer is what it is (vs just running through the questions to get questions done).
After I went through all questions one time each, I would reset my progress and do the exact same thing again. The second time around I would find that my average was substantially higher, around 85%.
Then I'd reset the progress again and just keep hammering out MCQ from the entire bank (not section by section). If there was a topic that I didn't feel as comfortable as I would like to, I would usually isolate that topic and do those until I felt more comfortable with the concepts.

In the end I think I had around 6000 questions averaging about 95%

Because I feel comfortable with journal entries, I didn't spend too much time on simulations. I did every simulation at least once, and did probably half of them twice. This was more to get an understanding of what I can expect for simulations and how to format them.

I passed AUD using only MCQs and starting basically from scratch – my single audit course in my macc program taught me basically nothing. Passed with an 84.
