Studying for 2 sections at a time

Call me crazy but I am studying for AUD and REG side by side with one another. I am hoping to take AUD at the beginning of October and REG at the end of October/Beginning of November. My Becker Promise on AUD is about to expire in the middle of October so I need to get on it. I was already studying for REG and was into the 4th week of Becker material. I didn’t want to quit studying for REG just to concentrate on AUD and then re-learn REG (so to speak).

Am I crazy? Has anyone else done this? Any advice on study habits/alternating schedules? I am trying to do about 3 hours in the evenings on one section. One hour in the morning and one hour lunch break (in a private area) for the other section and alternating each day.

I figured that if the “old school” folks had to study for everything at once and pass a 16 hour exam spread over two days then it has to be possible.

Oh, and I work in public accounting so extensions are coming due so the added OT cuts a bit into my study time.

Any advice from those who have done this in the past?

Would love to hear it as well since I'm in the same boat. I got advice from Lilla that most people study one, then switch to the other and then review both. I'm currently studying AUD using NINJA method. hopefully I can finish all the lectures by next week and then I'll jump to BEC but I guess I will try doing some questions for AUD on the weekend as well.

I've been studying for all four at once. Its awful I don't recommend it. But in certain circumstances, like you mentioned above it is necessary. I took all four review courses at once through my masters so every week or so I had to complete a module from each book.

My strategy was to power through the smaller books (BEC/AUD) while staying on track with the others. When I had about 10 days before exam day I would put 100% into reviewing for that particular test. You'd be surprised as to how much you can retain when going from one subject to another. There is also some overlap, ie IT and corp governance with BEC and AUD. So with a month in between you should be perfectly fine.

JaredSchultz42: I'm doing that right now and started doing it immediately after exiting my FAR test on August 13. I use Becker and am on A5 and R7, i'm hoping to finish A6 and R8 before September 1 so that I can switch to Regulation only and take it in October, and then Audit for November. I already got a 69 on Audit before so i'm hoping 4 weeks is enough time to study for audit only.

I really need to pass this test this year. I”m in CA. I graduated in 2010 and have been taking classes ever since to qualify for this exam. I really want to avoid having to take more classes because I already have 255 quarter units, which is equivalent to 170 Semester units.

My Becker 2012 software also say I only have 95 days left.

    BEC 4/3/13 84
    AUD 5/7/13 69, Retake 11/9/13 82
    FAR 8/13/13 78
    REG 10/11/13 85

The first time I started studying for the CPA Exam back in 2009, I tried to study for BEC and AUD simultaneously. I also took them on the same day. I somehow passed BEC with a 75 and failed AUD miserably with a 60. However, I've seen people post on here who have studied for at least two exams simultaneously and pass with flying colors. It's the famous answer: “It all depends” on who you are.

    AUD: Attempt 1: 60; Attempt 2: 78
    BEC: Attempt 1: 75 (lost credit); Attempt 2: 80
    FAR: Attempt 1: 74; Attempt 2: 74; Attempt 3: 78
    REG: Attempt 1: 76 (lost credit); Attempt 2: 68; Attempt 3: 80

    Finished 11/01/2013!!!
