I’m excited that christmas and news years and all that jazz is coming but this is gonna be a definite speed bump in my studies!! All my family will be coming home soon and not leave for like 2 weeks! Anyone else a bit worried about this? I mean i do have a bunch of days off from work maybe I can wake up study from like 8 to 1 and then spend the day with family and friends I just know there will always be a distraction going on in my house.

What is everyone’s study plans for the holidays?

    Happy holidays everyone

Awww… well at least you will be with you loved ones.

My situation is the opposite – Hubby is leaving for 10 days to see his parents in Canada. I will be home alone and working (Can't take time off as Corporate Finance has told us we can't due to YE close)

So I hope those 10 days I can get the maximum amount of studying done without any distractions 🙂

    Happy Holidays !

I planned REG studying for 1 chapter during xmas week and 1 chapter during the week after, then back to 2 per week after that. I figure this will give me a little bit of slack during the holidays but not fall off much. I have that week and a half off so I think I'll probably study a lot more than I planned for, but I'd rather be conservative in my planning!

    A - 10/28/12 - Passed!!!
    B - 11/20/12 - Passed!!!
    F - 11/12/13 - Passed!!!
    R - 02/01/13 - Passed!!!

    Work Experience - Done!
    Ethics Exam - Boom! Done!

That's the nature of the beast. When it's time for family and enjoy the holiday, study comes at a cost. Committed to pass? Might have to pull and all niter like those college days or cut the visit short. Just when we thought those days were behind us…….my study plan is to do 8 hr. days and weekends. I am already behind getting ready for tax season, my children will be home from college and I know my house will be chaotic so I plan to hide in my office with the blinds closed and door locked to get some study time in.

Good luck with the family…..they might understand.

I am two months deeps into studying for far with a mother coming for a few days. I pushed my test back 5 days to compensate and have my girlfriend picking her up at the airport. I am losing more time to watching Christmas movies:) However I try to watch them at the end of the day after my brain is fried.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"

I plan to spend Christmas Eve and Christmas Day with the family. Beyond that, my intentions are to study. I live alone, so that is not that difficult for me. If you really want to study and you know that family members will be at your place for an extended time, I would suggest going someplace else to study, such as the library, Panera Bread, etc.

    IL Candidate

    AUD - 98 (11/11/13)
    BEC - 69 (4/19/14); 83 (7/21/14)
    FAR - 88 (11/26/14)
    REG - 90 (2/26/15)

    Ethics - 98 (3/9/15)

My plan is to take off two days entirely: Christmas Day and New Year's Day. I scheduled shorter study days on Christmas Eve and New Years Eve. And I took off from work the days surrounding the holidays (Dec 23, 26, 27, 30)- I plan to study in the mornings and then spend the afternoons with my husband (who is a teacher so he has off).

Luckily our family is all local, so we can head out for dinners/celebrations and then come home when we feel like it.

And I can use the “needing to study for the exam” as an escape plan if family starts to drive me nuts :p

    F- 7/13- 84
    R- 10/13- 79
    A- 11/13- 99
    B- 1/14- 86

    Licensed in PA- 3/20/2014

This exam ALMOST defeated me back in 2006-2008, but I came back and WON!

Off topic, does anyone have any gift ideas for family you can buy online like amazon or something? I got my mom an hour massage I saw on groupon for $30 which I think is a nice gift, but idk what else to buy. Holiday shopping and studying does not mix!
