A quick introduction. I work for a local accounting firm in Houston Texas. I have worked here almost three years and just this year was I able to start sitting for the exam. My test taking strategy is as follows:
-I use Becker, although I feel other software would be just as well at preparation.
-My average study time per chapter is 12-14 hours for the entire time I’m studying. Meaning when I took the test I spent 12-14 hours per chapter in all. So for a 5 chapter test (Audit for Becker) I spent approximately 65 hours studying total.
-My study pattern is watch the lecture, then read the whole chapter followed by answering all questions. Then I make note cards for questions I missed. I do this through all the lectures until completed.
-I then reread every chapter and rework the homework a second time.
-For the third go I only do the questions for each chapter.
-I give myself 4-5 weeks to study for a test
-I study 2-4 hours a weekday and 2-4 hours each weekend day and I usually binge for 2 days of studying and then take the test.
-My wife usually gets to see me for dinner and after 10pm and more on the weekends.
I then review all my note cards and then take the test. This is what has worked for me so far.
