Hello all! I’m new to this site however I’ve been casually visiting it as an undergrad. Now that I’ve graduated and worked for a little less than a year as a tax analyst I decided to finally begin studying for the CPA exam! Like many of you I’m extremely motivated, nervous, and excited to begin my journey! I couldn’t find a string that suggested self study programs or review courses so I thought I’d ask:

I plan on taking each section one at a time starting with the FAR this June/July (i’m registering for the exam next week)! I plan to study at least 15-20 hours a week. I’ve seen the becker and cpaexcel so far and they both look okay however I’m sure i’d need maybe a review or test bank in addition to the course….

Which self study program and or review course/book do you all find works best?

    Thanks everyone!

    Welcome!

You will find people recommending every course under the sun.

I would read the section on selecting a course in the Survival Guide (https://www.another71.com/cpa-exam-survival-guide/)

    Demos

    Budget

    Fine Print/Update Policy etc.

If you have very little understanding of the material covered and would learn best by having someone explain the material to you than you might want a lecture focused program like Roger or Yaeger.

If you learn best by actually reading and working with the material(as in multiple choice questions) you should probably choose a program with an extensive test bank like Becker or Cpaexcel.

If you are on a budget and don't mind reading dry material than the vanilla Wiley program might be enough for you.

I think cpaexcel/wiley test bank combo is the best value for your money.

I spoke to an ancient wise man who sent me on a mushroom induced journey through an ancient forest to find the key to passing the CPA exam. A talking spider monkey told me to throw the last of my drinking water in the dirt to find what I was looking for. So I followed his instructions and the following message appeared in the soil:

"Do 5000 multiple choice questions for each section"
