Study on Vacation?

So my husband and I are on vacation in Chicago. I thought “I have to still study on vacation if I want to be comfortable for FAR for my test Oct 25” My first test so naturally I’m terrified. I planned on studying in the car but I’m still on the videos so I required a laptop and lots of room and doing that in the car is surprisingly hard lol. Not to mention I didn’t study like I should since Sunday because I think I’ve burnt myself out studying, as my husband says “that’s all you do” I do feel I could study MORE but I believe that would be my every waking moment but when I am not studying I mostly thinking “I could be studying right now.” So even my down time isn’t really my down time. I really beat myself up for not studying. So I think if I wake up as early as I did today then I will study until its time to start our venturing again. I don’t want my hubby thinking studying comes before him/us. Although he’s been crazy supportive already (I think it’s because if I make more money… then he also benefits lol) But what do you all do on vacation and studying?

I spent a week in Aruba before my REG exam. I got up at 4 a.m. every day and sat on the balcony studying with a cup of coffee until my husband and kids got up. This gave me about 3-31/2 hours every morning. After that I refused to think about it the rest of the day. I knew I had to stick to this plan because tax season was about to hit and my study time was going to be really limited when I got back. It wasn't fun but I passed.

In July of 2012 I was studying for AUD. We take an annual trip to a cabin by a lake. My husband fishes, I hike and read and listen to music and relax. There is no internet or cell service or TV at this place.

So my AUD exam was scheduled right after that trip. Needless to say I brought along a laptop with Becker on it, and my books and notes and spent almost all my time studying. It was the worst vacation of my life but I passed AUD with a 77.

I thought the purpose of a vacation IS to study. 🙂

Yes. I've lugged these books all over the US.

I'm taking my first study-vacation in about 2 weeks. I'm going to go with CPA_Driven's advice and I'm going to study in the morning. Add that to the time on the plane/at the airport, I should be able to get some good time in

    REG - 80 (2/28/13)
    AUD - 68 (5/24/13), 84 (7/11/13)
    BEC - 83 (8/29/13)
    FAR - 70 (12/04/13) 80 (2/10/14)

I'd slow the obsessive studying or cancel the vacation. Nobody wants to go on vacation with someone who is “absent” and even if you get up early, you'll either be tired or going to bed early, neither of which sounds like fun for the spouse while on vacation.

    Ninja + Wiley Test Bank: [FAR - 81] [REG - 76] [BEC - 88] [AUD - 73](doh!)

    Becker Videos: [AUD - 82]
