Just wanted to chime in that I'm taking FAR (for the second time) on October 20th, as well!

    lmorgan;

Some bad news, it won't be the last time.

The exams are hard. It gets hard to consistently get good/enough sleep. You're always “on”. Your social life takes a nose dive. And many other things for different people.

The best thing to do is on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times per day, remind yourself of your recent “successes”. A solid 4-hr study session, getting a refreshing 25-minute workout, eating a reasonably healthy meal, focusing on your last question set, etc. The small wins help you stay motivated and prevent you from overreacting to small “defeats” like doing poorly on a few practice questions, being unfocused for a day/few days, etc.

Also, set up a system of rewards for yourself. Whether it's giving yoruself permission to watch your favorite show, take a nap, or whatever, for what you consider to be exam prep-related successes. It's a way I found to stay motivated while seeing the progress on a rolling basis.

    Good luck!

The best way to deal with burn out is to remind yourself that all you have to do is give it your all for this short amount of time, and you'll never have to deal with it again! Everything is temporary, including this time of stress. Reminding myself that I was almost done has kept me going.

    REG - 87 (Becker)
    AUD - 96 (Becker & Ninja MCQs)
FAR - 85 (Becker, Ninja MCQs, Audio and Blitz)
BEC - Last one! Waiting on score release 11/24!

Remember: a journey of a thousand miles begins with a single step

Thank you everyone for your helpful and thoughtful words. I think I have decided that I am going to move my test to either the 23rd or the 27th to give myself a few extra days. I should be finishing up the material by the end of the week and then I will have around 2 weeks to revisit all material, review, and practice, practice, practice those MCQ's. I will move my BEC test back a few days to make up for the extra few days I'm giving myself for FAR.

I've had such a hard time getting through this material. I stated studying for FAR on 09/02, a week after I took REG and just about everything under the sun that could've gone wrong in September (except my REG exam score) did go wrong. And between all that and working full time with tax deadlines last month and this month its just been so hard to be motivated to study. I am trying to think about everyone's suggestions for kicking the burnout and staying positive and motivated and it is helping! I am studying before work, at lunch, and after work until I cant retain anymore info for the day.

The only bad thing about moving FAR a few days is that I have to wait til the end of November to find out my score and that is going to be torture. I had to wait a month for my AUD score and I thought I was going to die of anticipation haha. Well headed to get some sleep. Night Everyone and Thank you again!!

Maybe skim through the chapter first, make a skeleton outline and then do a chapter in chunks, with breaks in between.

Also, maybe don't take notes (or heavy ones at least) and just follow the lectures. Do the homeworks and get it over with. You'll probably not score the best or feel confident, but then at least you go it done, and when you review the material, it'll be faster, easier, and hopefully more motivating to do so.

Oh, and find some pump up music.

For me, instrumental metal or technoish stuff can be good. I even play the same song over and over again (like right now).

Song I'm listening to is “The Crusade” by Trivium. Find whatever works for you. I don't recommend vocals though or having to manually find songs because that can distract you.
